You know, I think I never really played the FULL full version of this game. I was one of the "lucky" australians who picked up a PC Powerplay Magazine advertising the "DEMO OF MOO3" only to find it was a full fledged beta version of the full game. The beta turned me off it, if I remember correctly it seemed a little too clunky and complicated at the time
I bought this through Amazon for $18 with a $20 rebate from Amazon.com. Yes, they paid me $2 to take it. It almost grew on me, but there were some annoyances and bugs (which I can not recall). I understand there are some mods that greatly improve the game... Anyone have any links to these mods? I might give this another go.
When can we expect the inevitable "Master of Sale" bundle? :)
So, is this like the Terminator 3 of video games? Mind you, The Coming Storm fan edit of T3 actually made the movie much much better. So I guess any MoM3 fan mods out there might do wonders with the game.

Couple links to check out re mods:
MoO3 Guardian for mods.
Mootorial project (old Atari forums thread) for a tutorial guide. Gives you a decent look at the interface.
Oh come on guys cheer up! This way we have the whole series in gog!

Yay!
...except
that also means I have to have the whole series on my shelf.
(actually, I have no such compulsion, but I still might want to pick this one up after all, after all the hate it managed to generate already :D )
Wow, this game is now the lowest rated on GOG, finally unseating Simon the Sorcerer 3D from the position!
Just a note: GOG almost certainly HAD to put this up for sale - the company is no doubt trying to squeeze some lemonade out of this lemon one last time. "We give you Master of Magic, you have to sell MoO3 too." That being the case, it's a small price to pay for access to MoM on a modern machine, let alone everything else GOG gets in the package.

LordCinnamon: Sheesh, it's like a Secret of Evermore discussion on a Secret of Mana board in here.

You will laugh, but the biggest German SoM forum has boards for SoE, Final Fantasy, Terranigma, etc. :-)

Actually, if I wouldn't have it already, I'd buy it, even though it is bad. Sometimes the brand makes the sale.

Even though I've heard pretty bad things avout it, I *might* have been tempted to get this (I believe in the power of user mods). However, the pricing really puts me off, so no cash from me right now (may reconsider if it ever gets in a promo).
For those who played (me included) MoO1 and MoO2, Master of Orion 3 was quite a disappointment. It demanded lots of effort to surpass the complex interface and for many people the game was little satisfying.
The weak A.I., bugs and lack of support were some of the complains about the game. Only one or two official patches were released and they didn't resolved all the problems.
Anyway, the game is playable if you use the official patches plus the unofficial fan-made patches and mods. I still have in a dusty corner of my bookmarks two links that are still working. Here they go for those willing to try the game.
1- Fileplanet has the official patches and some mods for download at:
www.fileplanet.com/62119/0/section/Master-of-Orion-III
2- The Master of Orion 3 Guardian has several mods and patches and an active community board at:
www.moo3.at

If I hadn't bought this at Gamersgate about a month ago, I'd grab it here. Still haven't even gotten around to it, which seems to be a common problem for me with games as of late.
Well... I liked it ok.. I mean.. it was a different game then moo1 or 2... but...some of the mods for it are pretty good...
Yay ! Finaly the monster is here but I'll wait for a promo.
One of the few games I ever regretted buying from retail. Would not touch it again even with ten mile pole.
