Never heard of this game, but judging by the comments, it looks very interesting.
However it seems that the story is tightly linked to the 1st game which I never played and it also seems to be an important part of the experience, so I'm going to hold off for now.
By the way, what's up with the death by cow screenshot? O_o

My wife (who played the series before marrying me) actually played this game before playing the first one and said she didn't feel like she had missed anything.
They do have an optional "here's what happened in the first game" bit during a fake newscast in the game if you want to see it, but honestly, these are the only things a person ought to know about the first game before playing this one:
*You're a time travel agent
*You saved the world in the last game and everyone thinks you're a hero
That's it. The hows or whys don't matter all that much because they aren't relevant to the story in this one. (And, in fact, the main character is the only one who is brought back from the first game.)
The death-by-cow screenshot is actually one of the funnier gags in the game. You're trying to scale a castle wall in a medieval time period and the defenders are chucking boulders at you. If you wait and stand still too long, they fling the cow, bringing an unfortunate (if not hilarious) end to your time traveling career.

To be quite fair, the third game does wonders to integrate the plots of both the first and the second (specially the first) into a whole story. And a good one, actually.
And the cow scene is a reference to Monty Python.

Jayel: It would be amazing if they could release the remake of the first game that everybody missed out on because it was only released for PowerPCs.
edit: yeah, as Gersen said.

partially: It was? strange - then what is the PC-CDROM version I own?

The first game was released on both PC and Mac.
In 1997 Presto quietly released a remake titled Pegasus Prime that was a complete reworking of the first game done in the same style as Buried in Time (Right down to the title logo and theme music.) It was originally slated for the ill-fated Pippin video game console, but was released only for the Mac OS. I actually own a copy and got it to work on my PC using an app called Sheepshaver, but it takes a lot of work.

Anamon: I wonder if it's actually technical reasons why they didn't release the first title (first). Porting a 16-bit Windows application to 32-bit is probably non-trivial, especially if you might have lost the source code. I know that on my current 64-bit Win7 system, 16-bit Windows games, and some really quirky early Win95/98 games are the only ones that I can't get to run without setting up a virtual machine. Guess the best hope is on ScummVM to develop a driver...

Err, what? In the Windows 95 days, there was a compatibility layer, I think it was called WinG or something like that. I think Civ II may have used it (well linked to it) in portions of their code. In any case, Wine's first goal was perfect Win16/WinG emulation - which I believe they accomplished. FWIW, WineOnWin32 (aka a Windows port of Wine) is a goal of the Wine team. May even be a Google Summer of Code project. Check http://www.winehq.com for details.
Nice, and for $5.99. I got interested by the time travel in this series, but never played any of the games.
I'll buy 'em all when the whole trilogy arrives, here.

iuliand: Never heard of it.
Call me twisted but I can't hold myself to notice the giant peniș proudly featured on the time travel suit. Am I the only one to notice this... "feature"? :P

You, twisted.

Cook: That should end the "too much boobs on GOG" complains I guess :D

El_Caz: Ahahahaha! Oh, GOG, always giving something to everybody. :)

Hahaha, "always giving something to everybody". That was really nice, ROFL.
Hey Cook, yeah, GOGers are really starting to miss the boobs here. What game (and artwork) you'll release next, please tell us? :p
Never heard of this game until now. Looks quite interesting though based on fellow GoG'ers comments. Hmmmm...

Just loaded Journeyman Project Turbo just fine on 32 Bit XP - Does not like my 64 Bit Box. I am guessing it will be fine on a 32 Bit Vista but will check it later.
Nice! Considering I played, and loved, The Journeyman Project Turbo, I'm going to have to get this one as soon I have fewer already purchased games vying for my time.

Oh shoot, really? I only have a 64 bit box! Shoot! Please don't say its truuueee!! (I'm getting this tomorrow with a handful of other titles. My parents allow me one game a month, but since there are five games here for $30 at most, they're ok with that!)
This must be not only a good, but also a very popular release (among adventure-lovers), as the game currently ranks 3rd place on the top sellers list, with only the two Syberia games being higher.

He's talking about the first game not the second.

Oh, so the order the games are played is only important for the 3rd one? I see, that's good to know.
Thanks both of you for the clarifications! :)

Not talking about the GOG release of the Second game - Talking about the First Game and why it may not be released here because of not being compatible with 64 bit boxes.
