So it's wrong to talk crap about recent games, but acceptable to do so with old/low budget titles, like Let's Ride Horse and Pony? I see people call that game pathetic yet to have actually played it.. oh but that's okay.. nobody likes those kind of games.. games we don't even play.

Gotta love dem hypocrites.

Voight-Kampff: Hello,

I wish People would not review a game that they haven't played. I feel like I'm reading reviews that begin With "I haven't played it, but... " al the time, and i find it really annoying!

Can't we all agree to keep Our unqualified opinions on the forums and let the game reviews be a Place for well thought out opinions based on experience With the game?
Call me a dictator but if I ruled GOGland I would make it so that only game owners were allowed to review a game.

So? It's not like it has an expiration date. *shrug*

Sorry if that came off as mean. I put that :P in there to show I thought it was a funny aspect of the picture and given my so-so day it actually cheered me up a little. My first pc was a //c which would have been that picture minus one of the disc drives so I really shouldn't be commenting on the age of anything. :D
How about tagging reviews with Played AND Owned on GOG?. I mean reviews are supposed to be about product bought on GOG (and unfortunately not for those living on just nostalgia - the same game back then might not be available on GOG or even work to allow it to be sold here) - the GOG and Game experience buying the game here, how it performs etc.Reviews on game plot, mechanics (not graphics unless buyer is a graphics whore) are relevant regardless whether game was bought on disk years ago or buying on GOG imho

Oh I wasn't offended in the least, which is why I shrugged. And my own first computer was an Apple //+, though I cut my eyeteeth (and learned BASIC) on my middle school's cutting-edge Commodore PET 2001.

It IS kind of funny that someone would create a "one free internet" coupon featuring a computer that never even knew what a modem was, though. Kind of ties in with the OP, if you think about it: "I've never been on the internet myself, but I've heard good things about it. 5/5" ;)

nijuu: How about tagging reviews with Played AND Owned on GOG?
Remember, GOG isn't the only place where games can be bought, people might've played the Steam or boxed copy and then reviewed it on this site.

Plus it starts getting rough if they added Owned/Played as it will cause an outcast to those of us who have played it elsewhere, it makes our opinions look of the lesser.

Good point.
In fact hearing a review from someone who got the game from Steam would be nice. If they still enjoyed it despite the DRM you would know it must be a great title.
Trust me, I'm an expert.

The thing is though, despite the game being the same on Steam or on disc, it is an actual GOG package (the game wrapped inside) people are buying - thats the point of the reviews - for people to give feedback on products you bought from GOG (review implies writer actually played the product bought), the performance of the game and at the same time gameplay etc. How is a game bought elsewhere relevant to a review on GOG? (there are games on Steam that are also on GOG where there are issues with the Steam copies but not GOG ive read about in the past)

People have different views on the purpose and content of a "review", though. Some people just like to talk about the game itself, without getting into performance and technical specs. For example, Psyringe could have warned people about the "incomplete story" in Montague's Mount regardless of where he'd bought it, and I think some people would have been grateful for it. (Warning people about performance issues when you played a different version is obviously another matter.)

Thats pretty much the same as in any review really - its all an opinion (professional ones really waffle on about crap at times im noticing more and more). GOG cant win :D.

It happened a lot to small games from small developers. Reviewers and gaming sites knows they don't have enough resources to fight back.

Best example? Dragon's Crown's 2 female characters' skimpy clothings. If it happened to games from big publishers (Hello Dragon Age series!) no one will talk bad about that game's choice of garment. But Dragon's Crown came from smaller developers and people target it because they know it doesn't have big market/supporter.

Damn hypocrites and their holier than thou attitude.
I'M NOT A GAME REVIEWER BUT I STAYED AT A HOLIDAY INN EXPRESS LAST NIGHT!
