Plentiful by any definition!

Agarest: Generations of War - Collector's Edition, a fantastic kawaii tactical RPG coming with a full soundtrack, digital artbook, and more sweet, sweet bonus content, is available 50% off, DRM-free on GOG.com. With such a discount we don't see a good reason to pass on the collector's version, and get the cheaper regular edition, but if you make that call remember that you can always go for an upgrade later. The -50% discount for all three items (collectors edition, standard edition, and collector's edition upgrade) lasts until Monday, December 8, at 10:59AM GMT.

Agarest: Generations of War - Collector's Edition includes many unique features that cannot be found in any other Strategy Role Playing Game. It takes place across 5 generations of heroes, starting with your first character, Leonhardt. During each generation you will build relationships with 3 different female party members, and at the end of each generation's story arc you must choose to marry one of the girls. Unite with your chosen heroine and use the “Soul Breed” system to shape the fate of the next generation of heroes. Build your ultimate army of warriors and master Extra Skills, Special Arts and Over Kills to defeat colossal enemies! Choose the path of Darkness or Light through a truly epic story, spanning multiple generations, and battle hundreds of different creatures using an array of character abilities, in a compelling and innovative turn-based combat system.
I'm glad that we're getting JRPGs, and I hope that we do finally get Ys. This specific dreary grindfest, I can do without.

Frostyfirefly: I bought the collector's edition a while ago, with the boobie mouse pad and the sexy anime girl pillow case (don't judge me!) :P

(Just kidding no judging here just being silly XD)
Good to know, your avatar's eyes are quite judging by themselves o_o

Xzaril: * Let your characters die as much as possible for the SP-gain to allies.
Good tips; I remember that one, I didn't like it because it was very antithematic in my opinion.

For anyone, who can be bothered to read until this page of the thread, but not to look up the DLCs on the Steam page, I made a complete list of the additional "content" they include in the post below:

http://www.gog.com/forum/agarest_generations_of_war/what_puts_content_in_agarests_downloadable_content_packs_not_available_on_gog

I would also ask Agarest veterans, who seem to be answering here, to take a minute of their time and reply to my question in that topic - what content in those DLCs is actually unique to DLCs? I think the answer may be important for those of us with a collector's streak.

Frostyfirefly: Spoilers, look away!

She's a major element in the plotline when it comes to romance, she starts out as a little girl, develops feelings for the main character in generation 1, but because of the age difference (weird for a jrpg, I know!), she never confesses her feelings.

Later on she grows up, and because she and other characters are basically immortals, she meets each and every one of the main character's descendants and develops feelings for each one, but you can only have a relationship with her during the last generation.

Spoilers end.
You know... you can just use rot13 for hiding the spoilers :D

Nice to see more JRPGs on GOG, but they just are not my cup of tea - more power to those that like them though.

Done.
Is there a good, easy to use leveling aid and walkthrough guide somewhere?

I remember having the game but placed it aside after I got to generation 2, I basically picked the first girl based on how her child/next gen hero/ would look like. Yep, I picked the elven loli with silver hair

I think there was a wiki, I didn't bookmark it though. And there were some mistakes in it, your best chances are heading over to gamefaqs.com and check the boards there for the full walkthrough, that's what I did in the end.

I think I know what wiki you talk of, I believe partially I placed the game aside because the guide I used (maybe the very same) was faulty

Thanks for the suggestion though :)

Frostyfirefly: My review is up, if anyone wants to see it, check the game entry; half of it is what I wrote here though.
Thank you!
Those don't sound like things that would have to deter me. I did two 120+ hour runs of Suikoden 2 - the first without a guide, the second with a guide to get the best ending (well, and then a speedrun to see Elza's story but that doesn't really count).
So, I'll wishlist Agarest for now and will consider it. :-)

How young do they have to be, you shameless weirdo?

You are welcome. If you can handle that level of grind, you will surely enjoy it.

Trying to place an age on a drawn imaginary character which may in story not even be of the human race and you may be able to draw in less than 3 minutes, then trying to either censor it or place real living people into jail because they look at it or own something with the image in it seems quite the pastime hobby in the last decades sadly.

Nice tongue-in-cheek comment there realkman XD

If you mean the silver haired girl, she is according to Lore 86 years old.
I remembered wrongly as she's not an elf, but from a species even older than elves.

If you mean the pink haired one, real age is unknown as she's a High Elf, first looking around age ten, 5 human generations later looks age 18.

I wish the DLC are included. When a game is DRM-free, I expect as many aspects of it as possible to be free of those shackles. This "curated store" concept is a bit bullshit in the first place anyway.

This game will bought soon by me to help convince Ghostlight to stay aboard GOG - but I would very much like the people handling distribution to not "curate" future releases as they have here. Leave the decision to accept or reject DLC to customers.

I can be a horrible completionist under the right circumstances. :-D (That damn Power Generator in FF8!!!)
