Add "Devil's landlord" to your résumé!

Unholy Heights, a fun mashup of tower defense and apartment management simulation full of quirky Japanese humor and odd-looking monsters living their little lives to the full, is available on GOG.com, for only $3.99

The Devil has converted a tenement building into monsters-only housing in Unholy Heights, a mashup of Tower Defense and Apartment Management Simulation. Sucker monsters into moving into your building, charge them rent and keep them happy by buying them furniture. Unfortunately, heroes have caught wind of the Devil's plan, and will stop at nothing to wipe him out. Knock on residents' doors to call them to battle, trap heroes in devious pincer formations, and command your troops to victory. Monsters get jobs, fall in love, have children, and even skip out on their rent. Keep them happy or you might not have anyone to fight for you when heroes come knocking.

If you like humor to be a bit on the odd side in your games and you enjoy titles that mix weird cuteness, simulated life, and a bit of strategy, you can't say no to Unholy Heights for only $3.99 on GOG.com.
For some odd reason this game actually interests me too despite me being picky about sims. More Japanese games are always welcome too.
soooooooo..

Active Gaming Media has now two cool games on GOG for now: Unholy Heights and La Mulana.
What about One Way Heroics (pretty popular in Japan I heard) and the odd Mitsurugi Kamui Hikae?
Would be awesome to have more jap games on board!

Reflex, kamui and satazius Desura keys is pretty easy to find, you know :)
This one's not bad at all, the reviewer on the main page seems a little cynical. Not all games need to be hard as nails and complex as hell to be fun.
I thought TB's WTF on this made it look very interesting but this just isn't my type of game... I might check it out some time in the distant future but not any time soon.
I've played the game yesterday for about an hour but must say the start wasn't very good for me... the tutorial is somehow chaotic (just quick infos running at the bottom of the screen + a couple of full-screen info messages basically saying "keep monsters happy, it's important!" or "watch the quest space, it's important!")

I have no clue what makes each monster happy and what doesn't, also their mood changes for reasons that are beyond me... I don't know how to make the hotel bigger, how to satisfy a shared room (one monster is happy, one isn't)...

somebody said the game is way too easy, but I feel the opposite :) but maybe I'm just stupid :D anyway, I probably won't be going back, sadly (as the style and gameplay really looked great to me)

When you click on the room the monster lives in, it says what you need to buy to upgrade it and make it stronger. I played for over 6 hours so far, and it still is fun.
Looks like a flash game or a game for phones...

For me looks like a fun sim toweresque japanese simulation, much like Yoot's Tower or The Tower SP.
Dunno why :P

Good addition to catalog.
Been playing this for a couple of days now, and I find it very engrossing. :)

It's not very challenging early on, but once you've upgraded your building, the quests and random "encounters" get quite harder. Higher tier monsters are harder to keep happy as well. So basically there *is* some challenge in this game, it's just not the absolutely unforgiving kind. :)

But to me, the appeal is in its style and genre-mix: its sim-like nature, coupled with the cutesy visuals and upbeat music, gets you involved with your tenants. You watch them live their lives and you inevitably get attached to them after a while. The tower-defence aspect, while not very deep in terms of mechanics, puts your tenants in constant danger. When a happy family loses one of its members, or one of your pet tenants - powerful monster, punctual with the rent, room fully customized to its needs - dies valiantly in battle, you will be upset about it.

This game is not really about simulation or complex mechanics: with its endearing charm and interesting genre blend, it will create mini-stories for you to enjoy.
