No worries guys, I have contact with Bomberlink and all seems to be a misunderstanding.
If you're finding the game too difficult even on easy I'd recommend starting with the Streets of Rage 1 route (the farthest left choice on the route map). Whenever you get a choice during a stage stick with moving straight head (going upwards will leave the SoR1 route and move you to the SoR2 or 3 route). When you get a choice screen on the ship take the one on the right to stay on the SoR1 route.

Sticking to the SoR1 route all the way through gives you a set of straightforward stages to get more familiar with the mechanics and has a large amount of money items. Buying the three-star move cheat from the store will make things even easier and is a must if playing solely to grind cash for store purchases.

Purchasing the stage selection feature lets you start the game on the stage of your choice (although doing so incurs has a score penalty) and is a great way of seeing what stages you haven't visited yet. Similarly, you can buy the cutscene viewer to see what endings and route combinations you haven't seen yet.

thelovebat: So is there some other place to download it online? I'd be very happy if you could direct me in the right direction.
The original links are still up: Part 1 & Part 2

Download both parts and extract with 7-Zip (free) or the like.

Alright, cool thanks.
For me, the hardest level in the game is probably the jungle island (not sure which version). Most enemies have weaknesses that you can exploit once you learn what they are, even when fighting several at once, but I'll be damned if I can figure out how to deal with a screen full of those god damn spastic ninjas. Throw in a couple of those Muay Thai guys just to be a jerk, and I'm guaranteed to lose a life or two before I clear them all out.

The level isn't that bad once you get past the beach, unless you decide to punish yourself by taking the top path across the rope bridge (pictured). The bottom path is much easier.

Of course, I am also a titanic noob for mostly playing the character that makes me /fanboy the most, but come on, look at the screenshot. :p

Part 1 works just fine, unfortunately part 2 gives me an error message when I try to run in, and when I extract the files with 7-Zip it gives me a small error message too. Is something wrong with that particular download link, or maybe you could post a different one for part 2?

Btw, quick unrelated question, how do you make it to where you click on the word or phrase that's underlined for the link, instead of posting the link itself? I don't know how to do that. lol

How so?

They're the same links I downloaded from, and the original links from bombergames. its probably just a bad download, my download was fine.

Type in your message like this: (url=http://www.gog.com/en/frontpage)gog's front page(/url)
except change the ( ) for [ ]

That example I just gave should be like this: gog's front page

You can also just click reply on this comment to see how its typed out :)

Extracting the first part extracts all attached parts automatically, so unless you got an error when doing that you've got the whole game extracted perfectly.

Failing that you could try The RapidShare mirror (a single file instead of two parts).

Kinda like this?
Sorry for bumping this thread, but a v5.1 patch is out now.

Care to share a link ? The one I found poking around on the old forums (here) unfortunately doesn't work.
Sorry for the late replay, I don't have the PC free that I wish I had, but here is the link to the v5.1 patch at the new Streets of Rage Remake forums with all of the details on the patch. I've thrown this on my existing Streets of Rage Remake file (at the time v5.0a) and it does work.

Cheers, thanks a bunch. Will try that soonish.
Too bad this got shot down by Sega whereas it should stand as a fucking example of how to do a damn remake.

If you ask me, after having played Banzai Pecan and dealing with its douchebaggy developer when it comes to criticism, it should stand as a testament of putting heart into developing a game that's actually fun and polished.
