More like "we want none of your business" reasons.
"we no longer want to run a business" reasons?

You win. =)
Woo hoo! I'll have the prince of persia dlc as my prize thanks... oh wait...
Heh, I posted and then noticed that I'd left the N out of prince. Somehow felt appropriate

Great news. Or not.
It has been confirmed at the German Ubisoft forum, that the new DRM-ed Silent Hunter 5 has been cracked. So cracking AC:2 will be a piece of cake from there on.
I cannot give you any reliabke source because the thread of the confirm has been deleted by the mods.
I guess sooner or later it will be in the game news, lol.
Define "confirmed". Not seeing any mention on the warez sites (although, I only really checked one or two).
I'm sure the best confirmation is getting the crack and testing it out.
I wouldn't be surprised either way, but even an independent user cracking it by his or herself would probably have merited a newspost or two on the sites I checked.
So, since all we have is "it was confirmed in a deleted thread", you'll understand if I am skeptical :p

Of course I understand, for me it's hoax either.
But I found the thread yesterday, and in the next minute it was deleted.
I'll keep tracks.
EDIT:
Well, if you can German:

FrenziedAU: "UBISOFT MAY CANCEL ACCESS TO ONLINE FEATURES UPON A 30-DAY PRIOR NOTICE PUBLISHED AT http://assassinscreed.com "
So, since single player requires you to be online, does single player count as an online feature that they can shut down with a 30 day notice?

They have said repeatedly they will patch out the requirement in this instance.
Are they legally obligated to? No... neither is Steam. Do I believe they will? Yes, given their track record.
what's given you this confidence exactly? Has this sort of thing happened before or are they just good atr post-sales support?

Their background of making a complete garbage port of SC: Double Agent that won't let you save in the one level that is actually really suited to the new stealth system?
Their background of not releasing DLC for the PC?
Their background of having an insanely laggy and buggy and nigh-unplayable co-op mode in SC:CT, then leaving it just as nigh un-playable in SC:DA?
...
On a completely unrelated note, I am suddenly in the mood for some of SC:CT's Versus mode :p

They patched the DRM out of Farcry 2, Dawn of Discovery and other games after saying they would at release. That is a pretty good reason to be optimistic at least if you ask me.
EA said they would patch out the SecuROM from their titles after they were no longer recent releases but they have not done so once to my knowledge.

Double Agent is one of the worst PC ports ever but I don't know what that has to do with patching out DRM, which they have done repeatedly.
As for DLC, they released it for Farcry 2 and Assassin's Creed 2 comes with all the DLC so... I don't know what you mean.

So nowadays, when you install Far Cry 2 it doesnt have ANY drm at all?

drmlessgames: So nowadays, when you install Far Cry 2 it doesnt have ANY drm at all?

It installs SecuROM from the disc, you can't change that, but as long as you patch it before you launch the game then it never uses the SecuROM files or activates.
