Doenerman: Marvel-comics is doing the exact same thing and they are failing hard.
Instead of gaining a bigger audience they only alienated the core audience.
At least Marvel choose different characters to impersonate the heroes (Jane Foster as the new Thor or X-23 as the new Wolverine) insted of going full "Tiresias" with the original characters. And they once had an alien replace Thor as well..

That being said, I neither disapprove nor approve the new "trans-Who". Maybe it'll be fun, maybe it'll be complete crap. It'll be different anyways.

Doenerman: It will only decrease the ammount of men watching it.
I don't even think the decrease (if it happens) will be gender specific. The biggest Doctor Who fan among my friends is a woman, and she isn't happy with this change either. Because this isn't about capturing a flag in some silly gender war, it's just about everyone's personal opinion on such changes.

Yes, which is why buildings don't have a 13th floor, because it's a lucky number. :P

So just a reminder, it's "Lucky 7" and "Unlucky 13" though I have to admit I have always been afraid of 7 ever since I found out that 7 8 9.

Did you just assume its luck?

Completely agree. That was a bit sloppy on my part.

Beta Ray bill is cool. But was he ever called Thor? I mostly hate it that they made Thor a title that can be passed on. Thor is Thor the son of Odin dammit. You can have the power of Thor all day long but not his freakin name.
I hope that X-23 can stand on her own too now that she has gained some attention through logan. They just have to delete the Woverine part. Logan is Wolverine. She can have her own moniker.

New characters need new Names. The way it is its just annoying and confusing.
There is a running Joke that the Doctor hasn't been Ginger.

Would people be annoyed if the only actors chosen were Ginger because the writers wanted a Ginger regeneration?

The choice of gender or race should be as inconsequential as hair colour. I know it isn't, but it should be.

Such bullshit. The doctor will be ginger !? The doctor has never been ginger, why do they change that now ? Do they think that more ginger people will watch the show !? My ginger friend is a fan but won't watch it ever again ! Oh yes I get it, cast a ginger actor and you can get away with everything ! But why the doctor, couldn't they make a new ginger character in a spin-of ? When did they even establish that a regeneration could make someone ginger ? I would have stopped watching it immediately !

It's even worse than that time where they had cast a new doctor who was not even going to be the best doctor because the best doctor was still running. I had already stopped watching back then. At least twice.

(... yeah, works too.)
I feel really curious about this. Why not? The regeneration trope allows for constant change and reinvention of the character.

I was worried they'd cast someone only because she was a woman, but the actress was very good on Broadchurch. She deserves at least a chance.

Now... who will be the next companion (or companions)?
Any time a character has a legacy spanning generations (Bond & Batman), there is outrage over who has been chosen to be the latest incarnation. I expect this will be the same, only with an avalanche of news/blog posts and the show's team denouncing fans as 'Whobros' for daring to question a change to something they've loved since childhood.
They should have made the new Doctor a black woman. Now that would be interesting :)
Carrot top should have been the new doctor who.

I think the hardcore fans are referred to as "Whovians" though that doesn't imply that they are therefore upset about this. So I suppose WhoBros will be a subset of Whovians, and 4chan.

EDIT: it should therefore be a superset. My mistake.

You told me to enjoy machinma about gay who sodomise russian soldiers. Not in this thread, but still it's SJW like you, who make tv series producers (like ones who make Doctor Who) to go "social justice" in expence of fans and general common sense.
