For anyone as crazy about Dragon's Dogma as I am...

... here's today's Capcom Showcase...

... and I'm now 100% sold on this game.

No doubt going to get Denuvo slapped on for release, unfortunately.

And, unsurprisingly, no GOG release in sight as well, for the next couple years at least.
Just never buy preorder... this will hurt them a lot. They will try preventing it by adding a lot of "fear of missing out" goodies... Do not fall for it unless the greed gets you.

The DRM is in place because the sells they make in the very beginning is usually the most rewarding one and the longer it takes cracking it the better, according to their mentality. Although, somehow they lack to see, even if a crack takes time... it can still be played almost day one using a custom Steam-emulator. I even think they lack to see the harsh reality of the ever increasing gape between rich and poor; which has not been stopped ever.

But nope... GoG will not get it for quite a long time, i guess. They simply do not care... can not "feel bothered" with something "to minor" for them.

Looks like a worthy continuation of the series!
A GOG release however is doubtful. :< At least for may years.

What surprises me though is that being ''only'' 3 months until the release the official website has surprisingly very little info. There's only like 2-3 sentences about the beast kingdom, the human kingdom or the characters. Talk about teasing...
This game is one of the main reasons I got a PS5. :)
Dragon's Dogma looks like something I would enjoy a lot.

But I don't want to reward a company that blatantly abandoned the GOG release of the game.

Abandoned?

Was there once word from Capcom that it was to release here?

The abandoned game I was referring to is Dragon's Dogma 1.

Referring to the original one, which is missing insignificant functionality in regards to the pawns (being able to lend them out to other players, I think), but otherwise is perfectly playable from start to finish.

Ah, I see.

Yeah, it would seem Capcom could easily remedy this, but hasn't.

Yeah, I didn't remember the GOG issue with Dragon's Dogma Dark Arisen.

It is indeed playable, but trading pawns (and items) was a great element of playing on console. My pawns learned about a number of enemies before I encountered them... and... I hired a number of strong pawns (via friends) that made successive playthroughs pretty fun. I also was able to get items -- via trade -- that I'd locked myself out of during the story.

So yeah... not unplayable in the form currently on GOG... but at the same time I would probably not say "insignificant."

Hopefully Capcom will fix this... but after all these years probably not.

The pawn exchanging probably did work initially (upon release of the DRM-free version back in May 2017) but one of the subsequent updates to the GoG build broke it?

Could be worth a shot to reach out to General Arcade who are the devs behind the DRM-free GoG version:

I'm interested, but not in a huge rush to get it. For some reason, I haven't finished the original Dragon's Dogma. There are other games to be released around the same time that I'm considering buying.

Dragon's Dogma 2 is out on Steam and sitting at "Mostly Negative" for numerous reasons.

1. MTX's galore for Fast Travel, Resurrecting, Change Appearance, and other stuff if you want to spend $ to do this stuff -> https://www.windowscentral.com/gaming/dragons-dogma-2-launches-to-mostly-negative-review-bombing-after-microtransaction-reveal-and-man-what-a-bummer

2. The game has performance issues, as the game's CPU-bound, and other stuff of that sort. See IGN's video on performance, across the board - i.e. PC v. consoles:
-> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IPrO2ZHQ3mM&t=13s

3. Players are planning to murder NPC's just to boost the frame-rate in Cities especially, as Capcom's said NPC's seem to also be causing performance issues:
-> https://www.ign.com/articles/dragons-dogma-2-players-are-planning-an-npc-murder-spree-to-boost-the-frame-rate

4. Capcom's going to look into performance issues:
-> https://www.ign.com/articles/capcom-is-aware-of-dragons-dogma-2-frame-rate-issues-on-pc-looking-into-fixes

5. The game also ships w/ Denuvo on Steam-version if you check Steam Store Page for DD2, so that definitely won't help w/ the above performance problems either.

6. Looks like people are having issues w/ deleting & restarting characters b/c of how saves work. Someone's got a guide on how to mess with saves - https://steamcommunity.com/app/2054970/discussions/0/4289188517340869363/

A new AAA releases,
gets mostly negative reviews,
nothing new.
I loved Dragons Dogma Dark Arisen and wish we could get the original vision of its creators back then.

This feels disastrous though.

Gameplay looks amazing, as before, but this DLC-for-everything plus Denuvo is just sad Capcom. Its just sad.
