Luckmann: Any information whether GOG has approached inXile or vice versa, yet? Because this is one game I'd really, really, really, really like to see on GOG.

hedwards: I think it's a bit premature for anything beyond informal talks and we're certainly not going to hear anything before a deal is signed. It looks good and I'll be getting a couple copies, but until something is released it's way too early to just assume that the magic is going to be there. With the crew working on it, it should be good, but it could still wind up a buggy POS.

I wouldn't be at all surprised to see the new Wasteland end up here, perhaps with a lead in with the original game.
Oh, definitely, which is why I said approached, not signed a deal or made arrangements or anything like that.

Making an approach is the first thing you need to do. And I want GOG to start doing that shit quick-like before this ends up like some Steamworked POS.

Steam is already an option, I assume you mean Steamworks only POS, which I can't argue with, Steam shouldn't be allowed to have exclusives as far as mainstream releases go.

The game will be DRM-Free. I would actually prefer a Steam copy and a DRM-Free one, but that's just me.
i paid $55 as i was not tempted to pay $15 for p & p for the box edition.

Am I going nuts or did they drop 'name in game credits' bonus from all tiers under 100$? I'm pretty sure it was there before they added second copy of game to each tier from 30$ up.

hedwards: What's more the Linux version is essentially future proofed as you're almost certainly going to be able to install it later on, or maintain a separate install with just important things updated.
The Linux is only somewhat future proof for open source programs but it's is not anymore future proof than Windows for closed source games. If anything I would say it's even less future proof.

Try to install an old program that is not in the repositories anymore on a recent Linux and you are in for a never ending eternity of pain and suffering.

Even for open source applications, if it's not actively maintained you can forget it unless you are a developer yourself and are ready to spend hours making it work with the updated libraries.

Sure it is, you have the option of obtaining a new copy of an old version of Linux indefinitely. With Windows, they'll eventually be shutting down the activation server and at this point you can't even buy new copies of Win XP, at some point that will be the case with 7, 8 and whatever comes next, as soon as those activation servers are shutdown you won't be able to.

Also, you always have the option of running a barebones distro and just manually installing the packages you need to make it work. It's not ideal, but it's an option you don't even have with Windows.

There's also the option of just installing it under the Linux ABI compatibility of FreeBSD and that will work for many years in the future, especially as they move to fat packages. Which is certainly the best solution as they care about backwards compatibility enough that you can still mostly install software that was used during the 1.x releases on modern versions of the OS.

All in all, you're future proofed with Linux in a way that you really aren't with Windows. Sure it's a bunch of work, but chances are good that if you need to do so you'll be able to do so and be doing so for more than just one game.

The "name in credits" reward was always for $100+ pledges only. Maybe you're thinking of the Banner Saga, where you can get your name in the credits for $25.

So my memory fails me. I must be going senile.

Can anyone quickly aswer wether or not it's been stated what DRM if any does the physical copy have (seems pointless to add DRM with DRM free version around but want to make sure)?

If you're looking at the $50 or above level, that does come with a couple DRM free downloads as well. At any rate, the DRM version would be Steam.

Unfortunately, I don't see any indication about the DRM on the physical copy.

Right now, it looks like it's going to be close for the $3m mark.

I know it comes with 2 DRM free copies but if I am to buy physical version, I obviously want to make sure I can use the disk version to play the game (and not just expensive frispee) if I want to. And yes, Steam is what I fear the most.

I'm about to go to work but I'll be back hour before countdown ends so could someone try to find it out?

Looks like it's not going to beat DFA. Ah well!

Honest never expected them to beat DFA - but then, maybe there is a bigger lack of quality adventure games as opposed to classic hardcore rpgs? ;).
