MechWarriors, assemble!

BATTLETECH is now available, DRM-free on GOG.com.
**Buy it until May 8 to get Shadowrun Returns for FREE.**

If you own FTL or Into the Breach on GOG.com, BATTLETECH is 10% off until April 26, 4pm UTC.
If you're eligible for these offers but didn't get them, please reach out to Support.

It's 3025 and the world is being torn apart by conflict while an interstellar civil war is a-brewing. The only way to survive is by leading your own mercenary outfit of MechWarriors through this brutal power struggle between corrupt rulers and ambitious aristocrats. Customize your giant BattleMechs and pilots, keep them upgraded and fit for battle, then unleash them upon your enemies in turn-based skirmishes that might as well decide the future of this war-ravaged world.

Go for the Deluxe Edition to also get the digital Art Book, OST, 4K Wallpapers, and more.
Keep lining em up and I'll keep reporting your garbage as spam, douchebag. Even Sarna speaks of female Mechwarriors. Where's your source of your oh so encyclopedic experience concerning Battletech? I'm no feminist, but it seems like the one more gifted with ad hominems and shaming language here is you. At any rate, you strike me as some tradcon, ultra macho, "stay outta my man cave" dudebro.

Could you, please, create a new thread for male vs female mechwarrior argument? Isn't this one supposed to be about Paradox Account not working and us not being able to claim pre-order bonuses?
And here, silly me thought this thread to talk about the actual game.
Found a thread on another site where they are actually talking about the game and most both seem to like it fairly well except for the quality of the writing.

xemmy: Noticed that too. Also of course the default character is a woman.
I bet 90% of the player base are males.
Better to just ignore this kind of desperate pandering.

Luned: According to my husband who played the old tabletop version back in the 1980s, it's Battletech canon lore that a lot of mech pilots were female, because they were smaller and fit better into the extremely confined cockpits. Nothing at all "new" in having the default character be female.
Not new. Just obvious pandering, since the vast majority of Battletech players are male.
I mean even you had to ask your husband....

They sell a DRM-ed game in a DRM-free store. The same happened for Devil Daggers (except for the fact that DD got fixed after 4 days by a really dedicated developer). GOG has one simple principle: no, freaking, DRM. If developers break that principle and it becomes the main topic of discussion about their game, it's their own fault, period. No one here cares about a game that requires an online 3rd party account for multiplayer or for dlcs, and if anyone does, he/she shouldn't.

mad_crease: I am female and I would agree there are so few of us that play these genres of game. I regularly played a table top version. There were 5 regular guys, 2 not so regular guys and me. That would make 1 in 8 - about 12% female.
Indeed, mostly played by guys.
But what several others said also applies. Back in the day, in the stories, the pilots gender was quite well mixed. Bloodlines and skill mattered more the gender.

My biggest problem with the game is, that it is so slooooow. Not even the actual gameplay but all the other things. The UI is utterly unresponsive and the loading times are.... beyond good and bad. And sometimes several loadings screens follow each other. Just when you though you made it, there's another loadings screen....
I played the first real story mission and I spent more time waiting for something to load then I spent actually playing....

From what i read (Tests, discussions,...) this is a problem they plan to fix since alpha..together with the "firing through solid objects" and some other Bugs. Hmm, just logged in to buy/download&play it but it seems i am better of with waiting for patches. Ha..was a nice dream...a game that can be played at releaseday without major problems :)

I believe we can all agree that:
- GOG is selling games with drm. It also fails to communicate that properly during preorder and in this very news. On the game card is a small less visible information.
- Paradox is bad for business and consumers
- Harebrained studios didn't deliver the promised product as it is not drm-free and many known issue discovered during beta was overlooked and are still in the game. That's if you can make it work.

Oh well, they sure didn't. Well "firing though solid objects" didn't bother me that much, since that is IMHO mostly cosmetic.

But I won't contiue to play because the lag really sucks.
If you have not preordered wait till there is a sale. Or at least a couple of updates.
BATTLETECH is another 2018 release which does not support 21:9 screens. Developers still don't see that there is a world beneath those dreaded game consoles. I am very disappointed and I regret having bought the game. Especially since we have Account-DRM on GOG's version of BATTLETECH. That's not what I signed for on GOG. Not at all.

The last safe and DRM-free provider is betraying us more and more often...

I believe that a refund is encouraged in this case.

It's time for a new drm-free provider.
You guys DO realise GOG's DRM free thing has always been to make sure the SINGLEPLAYER content is drm free right?. Plenty of multiplayer chunks of games either need a serial etc....Many of us dont give a XXXX about multiplayer....

I haven't understood something from previous posts. The content that is only available through the Paradox account, is it all multiplayer or there is some single player content in there?

Please Note: BATTLETECH uses Paradox Accounts. You don't need an account to play the campaign or single-player skirmish modes. However, you do need a Paradox Account to challenge other players in 1v1 multiplayer matches and to redeem unlock codes for Kickstarter Backer or Pre-Order DLC.

Multiplayer and dlc content. The latter are content provided on preorder or to kickstarter backers and can be used on both single and multiplayer.
Both those things weren't advertised during preorder or during the kickstarter campaign.

It must be noted that, while having multiplayer tied to an account and a common server make sense, it is not the only solution to the problem. Multiplayer games that are also drm-free can exist. For example they could provide a software for hosting private custom server so that user could still be able to enjoy that part of the game even after paradox will shut down the server for the game. Having both official and unofficial server is not that strange.
