Look over there! It's a three-headed…tentacle?

Celebrated classics The Curse of Monkey Island and Maniac Mansion (-33%) return, DRM-free on GOG.com.
To celebrate, The Secret of Monkey Island: SE and Monkey Island 2: SE are 65% off until March 26, 2PM UTC. Get them together with Curse of Monkey Island for an additional 25% bundle discount.

The Curse of Monkey Island
Meet Guybrush Threepwood. He's stranded mid-ocean atop a bumper car, he's hungry, thirsty, and much, much taller than you remember him. Yet still as determined as ever to save Elaine from the clutches of his undead nemesis, the evil pirate LeChuck. After his wedding proposal goes terribly awry, he will join a barbershop quartet, curb the enthusiasm of a demonic skull bent on world domination, and quite possibly die while trying to lift The Curse of Monkey Island. All in a day's work.

Maniac Mansion
Oh no, Sandy got abducted by the eccentric, quite possibly deranged Dr. Fred! Surely this has nothing to do with the comet that landed outside his Maniac Mansion 20 years ago or the two sentient tentacles running around the premises, right? Just in case, though, Dave picks two friends (out of seven in total - Dave is a popular guy!) and ventures into Ron Gilbert's classic point & click adventure, which reshaped the whole genre and later inspired a little sequel called Day of the Tentacle.
"We're a band of vicious pirates!
A sailin´ out to sea.
When you hear our gentle singing...
You'll be sure to turn and flee!"

:P

Lots and lot and lots of thanks for the "Curse..." :D. I knew it will be a great day when at 6 a.m. I heard in radio "I Got You Babe" by Cher, Beavis and Butthead :D.
Thanks for the answers from Yezemin and kresegoth.

Enebias: Aaaaaalso... and I don't want to be a spoilsport.... Maniac Mansion was already here, included in Day of the Tentacle Remastered.
But not the original version, only the enhanced one (which I don't like as much). The other problem is, Day of the Tentacle Remastered has some crazy graphic requirements, so those of us who couldn't play DOTT, also couldn't play Maniac Mansion. And even if it's possible to extract Maniac Mansion from DOTT to play it by itself with ScummVM or something, I don't think it's as nice a solution as buying the game without DOTT. Also, well, Maniac Mansion deserves its place as as standalone game, not as an extra to something else, it will certainly make me very happy to see it in my collection. :)

Curse of Monkey Island is my favourite one in the series. I know some of the fans of the first two disagree with that, but even back in the day, despite I had played MI1 and 2 before I played Curse, I preferred it over them.
Oh my God!
You did it, GOG! Finally! :O
It's the awesomest news this year!

I've never posted a message or review on here before, but I have to say this... thank you GOG for getting Curse on here. I have the game, I know how to run it through ScummVM etc. of course, however my GOG shelf always felt incomplete without the absolute masterpiece that is CoMI.

Never thought it'd happen, assumed licencing issues or something. Just a massive grin from ear to ear here!
In my rose-tinted recollection Curse of Monkey Island had much better graphics than this ... Might have been in greater need of an Enhanced Version than the pixel art predecessors, actually. Still, very cool that it's finally here!

kresegoth: Curse is the sequel to the 2nd Monkey Island game.
It should be noted that while Curse is a sequel to Le Chuck's Revenge, it's written by different authors and not the sequel that Ron Gilbert, the author of the previous two games, had in mind. It's still quite good though, especially when compared to the fourth game, Escape from Monkey Island (which was written by yet other authors).

Panaias: I think most people criticized it because of moving away from the traditional SCUMM (point n' click) style to the keyboard based one (IIRC it used an updated version of the Grim Fandango engine).
Personally, I thought the clunky controls in Escape from Monkey Island much more tolerable than the constant, anything but subtle third-wall breaking humor and rehashed jokes from the previous games. I admit I haven't played much of it though, I was so put off by the unoriginal writing right in the beginning, particularly in the vodoo lady scene.

I think it's a wonderful adventure game, but I don't like how they changed the main characters, both the art design (which is still waaaay better than the games that followed, especially the Telltale abomination) and the characterization, they just don't feel like the same characters from the previous games, so Curse never felt like a "real" Monkey Island game to me. I still love it, though, and can't wait to play it again. :)

Tubey84: Never thought it'd happen, assumed licencing issues or something.
That's the reason I'm considering buying the game now. It looks too good to be true. I'm afraid of scenario similar to the "Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth"... :|
I know it's not a popular opinion, but I think The Curse of Monkey Island is the best of the entire series. I have a physical copy that works fine with ScummVM, so I won't be buying a GOG one, at least not now, but I encourage everyone who doesn't yet own it to buy the shit out of it.

IwubCheeze: It wasn't that bad. Sure, it is one of the weaker games in the series but it wasn't horrible.
I agree it wasn't horrible, and yet it's the only one in the series I never finished. Given how much I love that series, that says a lot.

As long as you don't say the same thing about Escape from Monkey Island, we're good.

fronzelneekburm: INSTAB...

Waaaaaait a minute!

@gogcrew: Please fix the Chinese price for "Curse Of Monkey Island"! As it stands, it's almost double the price it costs on Steam. The "Maniac Mansion" pricetag matches on both platforms, so I can only guess that this is a bug, rather than intentional.
Should be matched by now.
What is the correct order?
Awesome releases!
And both instabought. Endless thanks to GOG, LucasArts and Disney. The old LucasArts Adventures line is almost complete....
