Timboli: Everyone can pick any one game for free maybe.
That's about the only way EVERYONE can come away with something.
Or another would be free funds in your account.

Timboli: Actually, there is another possibility, that I have been meaning to bring up for some time - GOG Console.

The GOG Console would support all GOG games out-of-the-box.
That would mean no more compatibility issues due to various PC hardware configurations.
Can be used with a Controller or Keyboard & Mouse or Joystick or all three.
And of course, great for using with your TV for that big screen experience.
And no more OS issues as it would have its own GOGOS.

P.S. If GOG ever realistically wanted to challenge Steam's monopoly, there could be no better way, than their own Console. Having something like that, they would be the killer platform, and give reason for Publishers and DEVs to sit back and take notice, and no longer see GOG and customers as second rate citizens. In fact, GOG would be doing what Microsoft should have done with their original Xbox.

P.S.S. I guess I should turn this into a popular separate topic. ;)
I hate consoles. They'd definitely lose me as a customer if they no longer sell for PC. Although I may be lost soon anyhow. They no longer support Vista or XP for the games now getting added to their catalogue, the base selling price keeps rising and the number of older games getting added are dwindling all the time (even if that's bound to happen logically). Maybe they should just rename the site gogs and get it over and done with. You know? Greedy Old Game Sellers.

That may be because Microsoft's internal security certificates are all expiring for all those OSes and Microsoft isn't renewing them.

JaguarWong: Just noticed that 'odd' in the announcement is in italics.

Free Oddworld game?
I think you're onto something. The original Oddworld was released on PS1 on 19th September 1997, exactly 20 years ago today.
Veni, vidi, huh?

or: Venimus, Vidimus, GOG vicit?

I am not a Console fan either. Despite my kids mastery of Xbox and beyond, the N64 console was the only one I had some joy with.

But the GOG Console would be something even PC Gamers would be happy to use ... the best of both worlds. In short it would be a special kind of Media PC, to enjoy the console benefits of a standardized system, but unlike current consoles, also upgradeable to support new PC games, through GOG releases. So no redundancy built in, and while support for a Controller or Joystick would be a given, so to would the PC Gamer's staple of Keyboard & Mouse ... perhaps in a special form to suit being on your lap.

That sounds amazing! Standardized systems, able to support games 20+ years old, but with upgradeable hardware, and support for controllers AND keyboard/mouse..!

GOG Console is a little clunky for a name, though. It's basically a computer, and it's for personal use - what if we just abbreviate that down to, say, "PC". It will take the gaming world by storm!
high rated
"Good News!™ EA bought us."

Very cute. :P

Even Consoles are computers. ;)

And PC is a little generic don't you think? We have something like that already. ;) ;)

As I have stated elsewhere.
You only have to browse through many topics on GOG, to see how many people have trouble with games and updates, etc, etc.
Solve that, and GOG is a killer platform.
Only one way to do that. Standardization.
And that requires a hardware solution ... Game Console for PC Users.

P.S. GOG Console would be a game changer ... excuse the pun. LOL.
