javier0889: snip...DAO: Ultimate Edition...snip... Also, I know it requires a Bioware profile, which to my knowledge is just their BSN thing, but does it have activation limits?
avatar
SeduceMePlz: Not sure about the Steam or Origin versions, but there's no need to register the disc version of the Ultimate Edition to your Bioware account unless you plan to use Bioware Social Network features, and circumventing the DRM for the DLC requires only a simple tweak of one game file. I've written detailed advice at:

http://www.gog.com/forum/general/tides_of_numenera_and_project_eternity/post18
http://www.gog.com/forum/general/tides_of_numenera_and_project_eternity/post20

but in short:

Install from the discs, install the latest DA:O patch, install the patched version of Witch Hunt, install the promo pack, edit addins.xml, install a mod fix for Ancient Elven Boots, done. Complete offline install, no login required to play (and if desired you should be able to sell your copy later without issue).

The only caveat is that you'll need to acquire the patched version of Witch Hunt and the promo pack from a friend, TPB, or whatever.
I was aware of that, but thanks anyway. Guess I'll just have to look for a physical copy then.

Crosmando: Will this game still only have three classes? (Mage/Rogue/Warrior) I don't know why anyone would ever think having 3 classes is enough for a party-based RPG. I think Obsidian are having 10 or 11 for PoE.
3 classes is all that you need. http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-xwX_LxIZ6zc/T2B1KqMb9GI/AAAAAAAAAWE/s-TQyAuJ0cY/s1600/hqclasses.png

I can imagine that having heaps of potential companions won't matter much if they all end up being very same-y in how they play. Even if you can only have 4 characters in a party at the same time they'll still be at least 1 duplicate.
No interest in Inquisition, so not sure about its options, but DA:O has four specializations per class. Specializations can significantly alter how a character plays and differentiate party members of the same class.

Elmofongo: Here is a much better Gameplay Video than what I originally posted in my OP.

Ugh. They really have to get rid of the "Fisher Price" UI
I only played Origins, one of the best experiences I've had, and that's it... the rest is shit for me.

Fisher Price?

Elmofongo: Fisher Price?
Y U NO GOOGLE? :P

Fisher Price is a toy brand that has vibrant colours. Examples being the party icon outlines top left and skills down the bottom right during gameplay, and the inventory in general just reminded me of this and detracted from the game IMHO

I SOOOOOOOO hate this about Bioware. I was suckered in with ME2/ME3 at first, but I was glad to get the DLC because I fucking love those games.

DA2 I bought for 5 bucks, and then they expect me to buy the (story!!) DLC for another 20 or so? Meh. Will give DA2 a try, anyway, but I'm still hoping for a system change. That won't happen if people continue paying for DLC with Bioware Points =(

Elmofongo: At least Dragon Age: Origins has a complete Edition on Origin though.
Dragon Age: Origin was the last BioWare game that had a "complete" edition. It is also available on Steam, and people should buy it from Steam instead of EA Origin.

After Dragon Age: Origin, BioWare has not released a complete edition for Dragon Age 2, Mass Effect (which came out before Dragon Age 1), Mass Effect 2 or Mass Effect 3.

BioWare main games (i.e., Mass Effect 1, 2 and 3, Dragon Age 1 and 2) are often on sales. However, their DLCs are NEVER on sale, even years and years after their initial releases. BioWare's business model is obvious: it's like HP or Brothers selling printers for cheap to get people to buy their expensive toner cartridges, (except in the printer case, you can refuse to buy the HP or Brothers toner cartridges and buy cartridges from third-party manufacturers; BioWare is the only one who's selling DLCs for Dragon Age and Mass Effect. So BioWare has you by the balls if you pay their games.) BioWare sells you the main games for cheap, and use the main games as hooks to get you to pay for the over-bundled BioWare points, which then pay for the overpriced never-discounted DLCs.

That's why I refused to let myself be hooked onto that scam. I do not care if BioWare makes good games or good RPGs. There are plenty of good companies making plenty of good games and good RPGs. I can't even keep up with all of them. I have over a hundred games on Steam and GOG that I want to play but just have not had the time to do so. Which means all BioWare products would have to be permanently taken off my wishlist due to their unsavory business practices.

They should make a Dragon Age game where the protagonist is a Tranquil, so whenever a companion tries flirting with you the only dialogue options are emotionless-ly voiced lines like "I do not know what you are asking me", meanwhile all the companions in your party end up romantically involved with each other and the protagonist left alone. What a great way to troll the Bioware fandom
First look at the PC UI:

Looks like standard PC UI, looks decent enough. Only ability slots for the quickbar changeable anytime I suppose.

Anyone getting the game? Seems like positive opinions across the net. Then again, DA2 had positive reviews across the net.

I'm very scared and paranoid to get another DA game after DA2. If DA3's anything like DAO, I guess I'm sold.
Combat looks horrid, like an MMO or something.

Combat looks like DA2, which is horrid, but unlike DA2 this time it has the overhead camera.

cw8: Anyone getting the game?
Well I really like the original and I adored the second game, I don't think there's any reason not to here :-P Just... Not full priced. I am now in the process of playing the original and then replaying the second game to have a proper save availible for inquisition, it'll take quite a while to beat those, so I'm hoping to see it 50% off somewhere along the line.

I waited for the original for years like a rabid dog just because they claimed it to be the spiritual successor of Baldur's Gate, and at that time there was a serious lack of cRPGs. I liked the original and thought it somewhat worthy of the spiritual successor title. DA2, however, is easily one if not the the worst RPG I've ever played. So I need to take caution of DA3.

I'm either getting at launch or not getting at all. I normally get games I want at launch so I need convincing :D
