Being evil feels so good. Get a chance to choose the dark side and try being as bad as you can in this great strategy.

[url=http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/dungeon_keeper]Dungeon Keeper is the revolutionary RTS with a twist: you’re not the good guy. Each level, your ultimate goal is to defeat the local hero that comes to end your reign of the underworld. Discipline your minions, construct fiendish traps, and slaughter the witless forces of good while you enrich your coffers and prove that you are the ultimate bad guy. The dark humor of the game will keep you in stitches, but the real treat is the refreshing nature of playing as the bad guy. You’re not the one rescuing the princess, you’re the one imprisoning her! Now it’s your turn to conquer the world, and don’t let the generic hero stop you!
So EA didn't retain a vice-like grip on its IPs after all? Their presence on GOG has certainly been educational. As long as Syndicate's legal issues are resolved I can content myself with that.

gamebin: If you are so 'grateful,' then you should buy it now at full price so GoG gets more support and money.

Daedalus1138: I meant that it seemed that there were a lot of people who wanted this game, but when GOG finally released it, they seem to complain that it isn't exactly what they wanted.

But, I do see how my post was, in a slight way, hypocritical, and I apologize for my slightly snarky comment.
I think you'll find DK2 is probably the most requested.
Good effort, prying the game out from EA-s coffers, but you should really go the extra mile and get Deeper Dungeons or simply release Gold version of the game, that has the addon included. Same goes for future release of SMAC. You used to take pride in offering us the best and most complete versions of all the games. What happened? First Space Rangers 2 and now this. Don't know about Dungeon Keeper and SMAC, but Space Rangers 2 situation especially irritates me, because all the best mods out there including the resolution mod only work with the expansion installed.

Eclipse: Last time i tried KeeperFX it just crashed my system, i'll try to ger the win95 version and give KFX another spin, thanks!

Backe: I noticed that you dont even need to have the game to play keeperfx, it downloads all the needed files, that cant be fully legal
I was wondering about that myself. I'm not personally concerned as I have a couple legally purchased copies, but with new copies being available here, I'd expect them to get a DMCA take down notice any time now.

Why? DK2 is readily available with copies regularly selling for $5, is compatibility really that much of an issue?

Is that the only reason you're here? Compatibility? Me I discarded 'disks' a long time ago. I prefer digital versions.

So? At least with discs you've got some evidence that you own the game if the service goes down. If GOG were to go down you'd only have the emails, and even then only if you kept them.

I'm probably not the only one either, I think a significant number of people are here because a lot of these games either can't be bought or aren't compatible with the most recent Windows version.
I don't know if I am asking too much, but some extra stuff, especially wallpapers, would be much appreciated. *hinthint* :D
Is it just me or did you really have to have a pc and grow up with these games to not just appreciate them but even understand some of these games. I could have grown up with these titles I suppose if I had a computer back then but I didn't. When I look at magic carpet and dunegon keeper on youtube I'm totally lost as to what's going on. And whenit was posted about Ultima IV being free and me checking it out, I have even less idea as to what's going on.

Dungeon Keeper is a classic title I've heard nothing but laudation from gamers, particularly on GOG.

It passed me by, though I've always been curious. This release seems *really* bare-bones, however. And those screenshots seem pretty "ragged." Is the Win95 version a little more polished in the graphics department?

The resolution is a bit higher as in the screen shows a bit more. Plus with the Gold edition you can actually get some 3D acceleration.

But, the graphics don't get much better, my main complaint is that the Dos version allowed you to see a lot less of the dungeon at any given time than the Windows version did.

DK2 has some problems with modern video cards and is unstable at times on anything beyond Windows XP.
I think that Deeper DUngeons might eventually happen as an extra at GOG or as part of a new download, but I would not hold my breath for the Windows version. Fact is, it is a lot more work to get older Windows games to run on a new system then it is to adapt DOSBOX to run the DOS version. It's a case of it simply costing GOG less money to use DOSBOX then to "fix"the Windows Version. I can't blame GOG for that; it is a business and you need to watch your costs.
But not holding out with EA for the expansions for DK and Priviateer:That is a bit harder for me to understand.

My DOSBox keeps minimising during gameplay. It's annoying the crap out of me.
I just bought this yesterday and I do have to say that while it's not what I expect from a release on GOG, it's still really worth the asking price. It's still the great game I remember from times past and I think it's really worth six dollars.

I do still hope that GOG will be able to add more versions, expansions, extras and so on in the future. Sure, the current offering is worth the price, but with GOG you do still expect a bit more than the bare minimums.
I've been waiting for Dungeon Kepper II forever - this is a nice start, that will allow me to wait a little longer :D
This is a game I've been waiting on for so very long. I didn't even realize there was a method to get it running out there. I'd given up trying to get it running a long time ago, but I never forgot Dungeon Keeper - one of my all-time favorite games. That's saying a lot from someone who's primary hobby is gaming.

Fantastic game, kudos GoG. An altar to the greatness that is GoG will be erected in my first dungeon, and legions of adventurer's sacrificed to it.

This version is the ugly one, from what I understand, and the dosboxDK.conf (it's configuration file) needs some tweaking, YMMV, of course. Make sure to at least hit alt-R to go to a higher resolution.
