S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series, SiN Gold, Luftrausers, and more shooty titles up to 80% off!

Pistols, machine guns, rifles, cannons, lasers... most of the time they turn out to be the best means of negotiating safe passage through a swarm of aliens, a horde of zombies, or waves of killer robots dead set on exterminating you. You're about to scratch that itch on your trigger finger. This weekend we give you 20+ games that go "pew! pew!" So take a look at some of the titles from this weekend's promo lineup , ranging from old-school FPS classics, to delirious action-arcade gems.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat, the fitting conclusion to the acclaimed series, delivers one of the most immersive and enthralling experiences in the history of first-person shooters, with heavy focus on stealth and exploration. SiN Gold, a true FPS hallmark that was overlooked at launch mostly due to performance issues, is your "shoot first, ask questions later" title, lauded for exceptional level design and smooth mechanics. If you're looking for some indie, over-the-top fun you can't go wrong with Tower of Guns, a roguelike love letter to the insane shooters of the past, full of robotic fiends and evolving guns. Not a fan of the FPS genre? Make sure to check out Luftrausers, a stylish monochrome retro shoot-em up with loads of unlockable weapons and mechanical parts that change the way your aircraft handles.

There is plenty more deeply discounted sure shots in the lineup so head over to the promo page and see for yourself! The offer lasts until Tuesday, September 23, at 3:59 AM GMT!
Nice promo, but I already have most of the stuff in it.

undeadcow: S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyl was really compulsive when I played through it, there are some tricky multiple endings but otherwise really nice strategic gunplay despite some redundancy. Playing through was so intense I haven't gotten to the expansion/sequels yet but 60% off the lot is a good bang for your buck.

Picked up Slave Zero (first time on GOG sale, I think) and [not in promo but launch discounted] Reprisal Universe.
Slave Zero is a cool game! It's a little rough around the edges, but it's a lot of fun piloting a huge mech in a cyberpunk atmosphere!

tinyE: Title screen. Just O. It should say that somewhere down in the right corner.
Have you noticed in Luftrausers that when you use a control pad the left and right options don't correspond to the Result menu? It says press right for hangar, but when you press right on a controller it takes you to the Stats screen.

It's all together not a real winner for me, but that's okay. I didn't pay a lot for it and you live and learn.
Hmmm... Symphony is on my wishlist for a really long time... But currently I don't have any music on my PC... Hmmmm...
Great promo name! *pew pew*

It comes with some cool songs to start it.
and yeah... how a person doesn´t have music on PC?
Funny how the title claims about more titles up to 80% off when there is effectively only one game at 80% off.... yeah I know, technically correct but still funny....
Looking at the 2 Alien Shooter games. Anyone here have any thoughts on them? Are they worth picking up? Do they play similar to Crimsonland cos that's what it looks like from the screenies?
I know it's not in the promo, but how is Shogo?

I agree. S.T.A.L.K.E.R. in particular seems expensive: it costs almost $20 to get the whole package in this promo, and it's a pretty old game already. Doesn't seem much discounted to me at all... I would probably buy it if was cheaper.

I had to exchange my hard drive three times this year already. At one time I got confused and deleted + formatted the hard drive with my music on it.
I'll now put all my music on my external hard drive but I still need to copy it from my CDs.
Of course right now my DVD/CD drive isn't working. I should have expected that.

Still pondering to buy that game.

It's worth it, though. If you've never tried the series, you could always try at least one of the games, to see if you enjoy it. They're quite similar anyway, so you don't really need them all.

( And while they're "old", they've only recently been added to GOG. They'll probably be offered cheaper in future promos. )

I have about a billion songs. I could send you some spare music. I'm sure I have something terribad I never listen to myself... ;D

Hold on a second, I should have some Scooter mp3s...

As for the game, I've only played it a little, but it seems decent if you like the genre.

IronArcturus: Interesting! Have you tried the first Alien Shooter game? How does it compare to the sequel?
I have written some of my thoughts regarding the first Alien Shooter here. In short, it is a fine cathartic game which you shoot down hundreds and in some cases, thousands of aliens, while being hampered by the game's sometimes bad pathfinding, lack of wall transparency and inability to save in the middle of the stage, though the stages are usually short, you have lives and you can find and purchase extra lives to prevent a possible restart.

The sequel adds some RPG mechanics like inventory, levels and stats (the first game also gave you the chance to improve 3 stats through the use of equipment), 8 characters to select, prettier graphics, a bigger selection of guns, vehicles which can cause a great amount of carnage, a badly-voiced story that can be thankfully ignored (not cutscenes), better wall transparency (the pathfinding is still a bit bad, though not as bad as the first).

All in all, Alien Shooter games are very descriptive of what they are; a series of isometric levels with hundreds of aliens to shoot. The first game can be formulaic, while the second one makes an attempt to escape that formula, but if you don't like games with a lot of shooting (and I do mean a lot), ignore it.

I didn't even notice the promo off to the side; when I saw this thread title I thought, "That's a funny name for a promo. Stinky Stinky?"
