timppu: Before that could happen, GOG would have to get rid of any kind of "staff work" related to releasing new games on GOG, so that the publisher does all the work (the same way Steam is working currently).
This. The main reason why GOG has to be picky about new releases is probably the lack of manpower. There are simply not enough people to do all the manual work. The frequency of little mess ups and oversights (links leading to nowhere, mistakes on the game cards, ...) indicates that there is always a lot of work involved. Too many things have to be done manually.
If they had a better infrastructure where more tasks can be automated or simplified and thus made quicker, I am sure they would gladly release every game they can get their hands on, including all kinds of shovelware trash.
