I'm not outraged or anything, but I'm not sure of the logic behind this decision, and hope they eventually reconsider. I've said before that I'd rather over curation vs. no curation, but sometimes they can be quite inscrutable about it.

Kelefane: I hope GOG hasn't turned down other classics like Dungeon Master.
Unfortunately, they have:

I sent a support ticket (A polite one) inquiring about the curation process, if they get enough we may be able to get a response from GOG into how they curate the store currently or maybe even get them to at least review the current curation system.

I doubt it. It doesn't hurt to try but they know their curation system causes issues from the dozens of posts that get posted on the forums. And they haven't changed it in anyway at all yet.

The same could be said about GOG in general though. They seem to have gotten so big they don't really care for their user base or what made people join them in the first place.

GOG does need a wake up call. Despite being around for 10+ years the only "real" alternative people see to Steam is Epic, GOG only gets mentioned occasionally but more as a "Or I forgot this exists" kind of way in the more mainstream parts of the industry.

Wouldn't hurt to give GOG a quick kick in the butt to show them they need to step up a bit more and offer more variety and selection to be seen as a "real" alternative in the mainstream market.

I agree GOG does need a wake up all. And by all means do give them a kick. But just don't expect much. As despite GOG saying on their homepage "made for gamers" its not.

(They really should replace that with 'This place was made for money, so lets rake it in!')

A store made to make money?! What madness is this?!

Who cares. None of you were gonna buy it anyway.

In my defense I already own it on PS3 so I have an excuse :)

But why would so many complain so much then?

Because this isn't just only about the Wizardry product. This issue points to a larger a host of problems with GOG that go well-beyond just this one game. Whether the people who posted in this thread were going to buy Wizardry or not is largely besides the point.

Regardless of if they were or not, GOG should not be snubbing a decent game from a reputable publisher which treats GOG customers well and which has released many other good, feature-complete games on GOG , especially given the fact that GOG sells many comparable games in the same genre as Wizardry, and GOG also sells many worse games yet they pass 'curation.'

This kind bad decision on GOG's part does nothing other than to further diminish its reputation among devs, which already isn't good. And it also ticks off GOG customers and therefore motivates them to buy their games elsewhere instead.

Yeah, I feel the same way as you. It certainly makes me really curious to peel behind the curtain on the curation process. There must be a logic somewhere to this puzzle we are all missing.

SO FREAKING TRUE! I own almost every XSEED game here on GOG, and they are the only devs who truly cherish their gog builds and keep them on par with the steam countepart.

As always, I'm amazed by the amount of trolls insulting a game only because it doesn't fit their taste, if you are really against a game, just ignore it.

GOG curation leaving a bad aftertaste as always.
