Darksiders 2 aiming to come to the console at launch. Tekken Wii Succesor, Batman Arkham City, AC: Revelations all coming to the new console. So is Ghost Recon Online.
Yeah, it's definitely a new console.

No it's not, it's roughly the same shape. Has it occurred to you that they might simply be using the same casing for the prototypes?

It is a new console, have you even seen any of the screenshots?

EDIT: It looks to be at least current gen in terms of power. Considering MS and Sony don't plan to launch a new console for a few years, there won't be anything "next gen" overshadowing it (apart from PCs =D).

honest it's just a new controller it's not a console if it were a console they woulda shown it but its a console with a screen so small the wii can render apparently better graphics

They were referring to the console as Wii U actually.
9:53AM The images on the screen are created and transmitted by the Wii U console with no latency, according to Iwata.
The screen on the controller is secondary (like the bottom screen of a DS).

What's the point in showing the console in detail? It's just a box of electronics.

Project Cafe is now called Wii U, coming 2012. Ubisoft and EA will launch their top, hardcore games on Wii U. OK they showed the controller, but what is the final console?!

It reminds me of a giant version of the Dreamcast VMU.

Looks interesting but I want to know how the graphics compare to the PS3/360. I know they are porting games like Aliens: Colonial Marines and Darksiders 2 to it, but Nintendo has a bad history of half-assed ports starting with the Gamecube. I want to know if they are the same games we get on other platforms.

Wii U is the console. And the control interface is an important part of it. They focused so much on the controller because it is the defining feature. It is what makes it different from Xbox and PS3.

I think it has a lot of potential. But we will have to see if the 3rd party developers can make good use of it.

Shittiest E3 ever. Kinect, PS Vita and Wii U. Nothing interesting for hardcore gamers. It's all money cows that the companies intend to milk.

They said it was HD, so I am going to assume full 1080P like Xbox and PS3.

I remember the downports starting with the Wii actually. The Gamecube usually got exactly the same version as the PS2 (sometimes a bit better as it was more powerful).

What I think that could be great with Wii U is that it could cater to the XBOX and PS3 hardcore crowd. Which in my mind is fantastic.

Correct. The Game Cube was the most powerful system of that generation I believe. But Ninty lost a lot of 3rd party support with the N64 and they didn't flock back for the GCN so the console suffered. And that is what really drove the development of the Wii. Nintendo decided that a hardware arms race wasn't the best way to compete and decided to focus on designing systems that brought something new to the table.
