captfitz: Switched my Shepard to Vanguard right away, awesome class.
avatar
KevO392: Does that mean that you can switch the class of an imported Shepard?
you can, I just did it

Gundato: Yes. Appearance and Class can be altered. Gender and name are probably fixed.

Huh, that sorta takes away some of the fun of continuing with a character. I guess you can just choose not to change though.
Well, since Bioware tweaked the character classes and their specific skills it makes sense to at least give the player the option to adapt as they see fit to the new system. I for one definitely appreciated the opportunity to change exchange my mundane ME1 class for a more compelling ME2 build

Have you guys seen the scores ME2 got already? A lot of 100's and lots ranging from 90-99.

I would have given it an 80. In my opinion, the original Mass Effect was far superior. While it started off promising, it didn't feel like there was all that much going on plot-wise and it didn't have any significant (at least to me) plot twists. Also, I had major gripes with the ending.
***ending spoilers***
They followed J.K. Rowling's actions in the last Harry Potter book. Let's kill off half of the people in order to make it more edgy and exciting. At the end of the mission, FIVE of my characters were dead, including one I didn't even see die (I'm assuming that was a glitch). Furthermore, while it was generally pretty predictable to figure out which one of the characters they were going to kill off based on their mission, one of them was unpredictable and killed off my favorite character.

The ending is NOT PRE-DETERMINED. It entirely depends on who you choose for each role and how suited their skills are to that role. You can have some people die, everyone, or even no-one. While each character is able to die--including Shepard--none of the various possible combinations were decided in advance by BioWare. Additionally, all possible combinations--except a Shepard death--will be valid for importing into Mass Effect 3.

I'm not one for spoilers myself, but there comes a point where you talk to a slave broker, and there's a typo, they call her a slake broker.
also, i noticed when talking to a reporter at one time, her arm bent backwards instead of forwards, rather odd.

During one conversation I had the other person actually turned right around, so I was seeing their back, but they still did all the head movements and gestures and whatnot. It was epic. :D

Wishbone: If you want a mature game, play Sanitarium.

I bought/played that last Friday. It scared the crap out of me. Looking forward to doing it again this weekend... :D
Just a quick question for those who already have the game, how bad's the foul language? Some of the trailers seemed to make it sound like f-bombs would flying everywhere, and I just don't like that sort of thing.

I've heard one F word. I've been playing three hours.
Bad language used to make me go "Wow, this is some serious stuff, there cussing and everything!". Now it's like..."Well, this isn't art." or something.
Like it WAY more then ME1.
I have to say I'm enjoying the hell out of it. The amount of subtle differences depending on the character you import is damned impressive (even the photo on the desk)
Also I took a few minutes to stop laughing from a few of the purchases I made, notably the porn mag and the pet that isn't a fish you can buy on the citadel. BIT of a callback to a certain other popular character. Fucking expensive one, set me back 9 grand, thats like 18 fish!
Also, a few awesome and pointless details. The normandy has a functional waste ejection system and it has BATHROOMS! You even get told off by the shipboard AI if you go into the wrong one
When ME1 was about to launch, I made a post on the bioware forums saying that the first thing I'd do is go looking for the loo on the normandy because noone ever puts things like that in scifi games. I almost feel like they wrote it down and added it to ME2 especially for me. It has a galley, bathroom and a way to dump waste, it actually makes it feel like more of a realistic entity now
Yes, I focus on stupid things and laugh myself sore at Xenophilia porn mags

I had it preordered but later decided to cancel because of the price. This post alone has made me decide to get the game ASAP, price be damned.
Basically if you liked the first but thought it could do wth more depth in both the roleplaying and third person shooter aspects, you won't be disappointed.
I don't like the idea that I had to pay $120 for it because EB was the only place in town that had it this morning and the normandy site was something I was really interested in (bit of a non event unless you really remember the navigator character from the first) so i got the special edition.
That said, I can already tell by my 12 hours of play with barely a break that this will follow the Mass Effect 1 tradition of my playing it through at least half a dozen times so I'll actually get my moneys worth out of the game. Now that I think of it, the first game cost me $100 and I sure as hell got value out of that even if I had to also buy a 360 to play it on
$120?
You mean we Europeans (well, Swedes, at least) get as shafted as you Aussies? I'd have to pay that much to get the Collector's Edition for 360 (sure that includes S&H, but still, it'd be about $110 even without that). Instead I'm getting the PC CE for "only" $100.
