Sogi-Ya: it's fixed now.
Not the one I was expecting, when I appended the jpg to the URL, the result was much more relevant to the point I thought you were trying to make.

I get your sarcasm with Risque porn show comment above, but you DO get that that was the most they could pull off with the tech and censors back then, right?
duke3d didnt sell on titty jokes/babes or the like. It was there like a background decoration, thats all. Duke sold on its amazing maps, it's new and cool at the time weaponry like tripmines/freezers/holodukes and such. Dnf is starting to look like cod with tits. That's not what made duke3d great.

POST!

But seriously, I don't see anything wrong with that comment. One thing's for sure...Duke will have the most amazing launch event you've ever seen.

It's part of what made it great(Duke was partially a badass action hero & chauvenist stereotype/etc), and some of us liked it.....stop trying to take the high road here and look down on us "pervs" for liking "boobies"......

Either youre trolling or you didnt get the point. I like boobs too, I'm referring to duke3d the game, it was awesome as a game because of its great design work in both maps and weaponry. Please, I know you need to rep up, but do it with better replies.
To be honest, I never found the first game to be funny. I just liked the voice actor. But the demo already had me in stitches as soon as it started.

I agree, but the one-liners/etc also made it great...not just the weaponry/etc.
For !@#$'s sake, GOGers: Ben Richardson of Gamefront has the gall to write of "critical acumen" and "journalistic ethics" while spewing this biased crap, and you take it seriously?

Clearly the guy has a major problem with the game's crude humor. The article alternates between bitching about the humor, speculating that the game is crap despite not referencing any aspect of the game besides its humor, and trying to paint Randy Pitchford as the antichrist of the gaming industry with sensationalistic insinuations.

Not content to blow the dog-whistle of misogyny while cowering behind the fig leaf of purported parody, Gearbox C.E.O. Randy Pitchford recently ascended his bully pulpit...
Read the original Eurogamer article:

We know the game’s great. Any journalist that decides…to lowball it is gonna be held accountable by the readers.”
Get that? "...by the readers." Readers being gamers who play the game. Rephrased: "Journalists who give unfair scores because of their personal dislike of the game's humor or its development history will be called out by readers who play the game and know from that experience that it's a good game." Sound so insidious without Richardson's accusations? Still getting that undertone of threat?

No, I'm not wearing fanboy goggles: I don't have a preorder for DNF and, of the series, I've only played a bit of Time to Kill on the PS (I liked it, and I know: I need to buy the Duke classics here on GOG... perhaps we'll get a good sale when DNF is released). Pitchford might be arrogant and overconfident (I suspect so), but that doesn't lend any credence to Richardson's paranoia.
At least you can't blame the 2 weapon limit on Randy.

Yeah, blame us for it if you want. It may change in the future and I don't know what will happen with it, but it was us. I stand by it too, as you cannot discount designing games for a modern world and part of that world is consoles where the bulk of the sales can be. And on those consoles you have a controller. We tried for a long time to support lots of guns but we simply could not find a nice way to map it to a controller, despite trying 4-5 designs. We gave it enough time and decided to stop swimming against the current and adopt what was basically the "standard". - George Broussard

hedwards: Eh, to be honest, I think he's right on the money here.
This is spot on. Just look at some of the comments on the RPS article about the demo. RPS call it "fine", some bitch as if "fine" meant "crap".

But then what do you expect? A game 12 years in development is NEVER going to live up to the surrounding hype. And it, like all other games, is not immune to the typical release cycle in which it gets hyped beyond all belief prior to release and then lambasted as being utter tosh upon release, simply because it didn't live up to the hype.

This happens for pretty much every single game release. So I have to wonder why people are even surprised by it anymore.

Yeah, I talked about this in my Bioshock thread. It's a bunch of bullshit as Half-Life 2 and Bioshock on consoles prove. They allow all weapons at once and it works perfectly fine.

Depends what you mean by fine. In the past they handled that problem by making ammo for the BFG9000 and the other higher powered weapons difficult enough to get to that you effectively couldn't use it for much of the game. And that's once you got the weapon, which frequently wouldn't be until late in the game.

From what I've seen in the demo, it looks like a perfectly fine mechanic, apparently George just screwed up his justification and the industry never went that way.
9 more days......I wonder what the first big reactions from the pubelic will be?

Pubelic? I'd imagine you wouldn't want to hear what they have to say. ;)
