Breja: Wait, that's supposed to be the same Wizardry? I honestly would never even have guessed that.

Sigh... this thread is yet another great reminder of why I pretty much stopped using this shithole of a forum. Which, apparently, I needed. So thank's for that, I guess. When I need someone to be an asshat to me with no apparent reason again, I'll be sure to look you up.

samuraigaiden: GOG has regional pricing for Brazil, Humble Bundle doesn't.
Ah, OK.

Perhaps there are extenuating circumstances that weren't addressed in the tweet you linked.

Buh bye! lol

If you think GOG's forum is toxic, then you should try visiting Rock Paper Shotgun's news comment section.
If you as so much try to say that you don't like the aesthetics of game X or Y, you risk being labeled a racist, an alt-right troll, an upstart, a poseur, all of those at once or another completely different label altogether.
I may be exagerating a bit of course, but the "thought police" sure is strong on certain sites. Not so much on this little DRM-free haven.

Well yeah, but what if you complain about the aesthetics by saying the game needs more burning crosses? :P

Like the time a user in here said the game needed more drug dealers in order to "make it more black".

That's what most of the Internet looks like these days, and this forum is not far behind, if at all. I had to give up on visiting so many sites in the last couple of years it's ridiculous.

This place has gotten noticably better over the last year, but some peeps only see the negative. Except their own. lol
It is certainly disappointing to read that it won't be coming here.

This is yet another situation that could be better understood with proper explanation about "curation" and what it exactly entails... and for a long while it's been a continuous string of denials without any explanation.

On one hand, I wouldn't raise such a ruckus for a denied release considering that HB offers an equal DRM-Free alternative and the only ones losing money over this are GOG themselves, but on the other I'd be perfectly fine with whatever reprisal the community devised to clear this whole curation fiasco and get rid of it for good, or at least get a good explanation of the process and reasonings after release denials.

Is it really that outlandish to ask what makes GOG reject X games but allow Y? I'd say it's preferable to risking a... well, not going to say "riot" but some sort of notorious backlash for this whole mess...

I'd prefer to know if it's a definite answer, but as things stand I think I'll be getting this one on HB as well. GOG loss on this sale, unremarkable as it might be.

It does look similar to other XSeed releases, which are here. It is a problem.

I didnt mention Xseed, just referring to the other Wizardry games on here. My point stands.

Fair enuff, Chimp. I personally value your opinion.
I may end up having to get this game from Humble Bundle, in this case (assuming that a DRM-free build is provided; DRM is a deal-breaker for me).

Of course, there are still a few factors that might influence this:
* Does the game work on WINE? (If it does not, that's a dealbreaker, as I want to actually play the game.)
* How expensive is it?
* How does the save system work? (I mention this because clasic Wizardry games (1-3 and 5) are the sort of games I will not play without save states.)

You might want to rethink that, because I value it too. :P

karnak1: Alas... it seems the game doesn't have a constant automap (I could very well be wrong here, but it seems you need to either buy the maps or need a spell to make them work). On this day and age there's no way I'm gonna touch a "dungeon-crawler" without a reliable mapping system.
Sounds like Elminage Gothic, actually. In that game, to view the automap, there were two main options:
1. Cast a spell. This spell is a 1st level mage spell, for which a character who can cast such spells gets one cast per level, to a maximum of 9, which can be restored by resting at the inn. (In Elminage Gothic, the 2nd level cleric spell that would locate dead bodies would also work here.)
2. Buy a magic map. These are single-use items, but they can be bought from the store in unlimited quantities. In Elminage Gothic, you could (IIRC) have up to 9 per inventorey slot.
(Elminage Gothic also has a special reusable map you could get. It has a small chance of breaking, but there's a 5th level alchemist spell that repaire all items in your entire party's inventory.)

Just dont buy any more shares in Chimpolitan Tinfoil or the market will collapse!
