Arkose: ...and just when you think a once-loved franchise EA has killed off can finally rest in peace they dig up its trademark to recycle it for a completely unrelated title. >_>

It's amazing how quickly people have forgotten Ultima Online.
The Awakening-expansion for Dragon Age is awesome. I'm pretty sure that, if we're getting a Mass Effect 2-expansion, it'll be of the same high quality.
I'm certainly hoping to get back into the Mass Effect-universe before the end of the year. But please drop the planet scanning, BioWare.
Edit: If it's unclear, I'm speaking about the countdown on BioWare's site, and sort of assuming it'll be about an expansion for ME2.

The counter is also on the Dragon Age site so it could be an announcement on Dragon Age 2 which many think will be coming for christmas.
I hope after the mass effect trilogy is done they'll do further games in the Mass Effect universe but for a different story. I wouldn't mind having them go back in time to just when humans were first getting into space and meeting alien species, or something just way different than the citadel and universal armageddon

taczillabr: But in this specific case, a week or weeks before the launch of ME2 they were already stating that there will be games after ME3.

I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing. There's plenty of room for good story lines and good games in the ME universe, as Ilves pointed out. And I personally would love to see more of the ME universe. As long as they have BioWare at the helm for them, I'm pretty sure it will be a decent game.
I'm as cynical as the next guy, especially when it comes to EA, but I guess I just don't see the need to jump on the doom and gloom bandwagon every time EA makes some kind of statement or announcement on something.

It's going to be a countdown to a new cross-over expansion for Mass Effect 2 which sees Shepard visiting the Gray Wardens to help them in their new quest of having a massive tea party with time traveling space men from the future.

Don't forget the cross platform romances where Garrus attempts to get jiggy with Morrigan.

I was thinking of the fun Alistair might have with Jack.

That... would actually be funny. Like Morrigan/Alistair banter taken to 11.

I think my head would asplode from all the snark. And I'm a huge fan of snark.

In my humble opinion, this is pure win. The post, that is, not the prospect of crossing the games.

Christmas? Of 2010?
I'll never finish Dragon Age in time...

I've heard DA2 will come in February 1st...
an extra month to play it.

According to IGN, "A pamphlet found inside all retail copies of Dragon Age: Origins -- Awakening ... set the release for Feburary 1, 2011."
Of course it's also possible that the announcement is for Mass Effect 3; EA will want both sequels out the door as quickly as possible.
EDIT: the countdown announcement, I mean; the one in Awakenings is clearly for Dragon Age 2.

That...is quite possibly...the most awesome idea ever. What about a crossover into the ME universe, where Sten goes medieval on some Krogan? 'Why have we stopped. Why are we not going after the collectors?'
