Can you resell the stuff you buy at this very website? :p

So far most DLC has just been extra stuff, but as Siannah said if stuff like full expansion packs are released via DLC then you might be required to purchase them if you wish to enjoy/understand a sequel to a game.
No one is saying that their rights are being stripped away, but it is still a legitimate concern given the greedy track record of many companies.
Even so, I purchase most of my game through digital distribution because I feel it is worth the risk (for now at least).
Then wait for the inevitable DLC packs that you can buy on disc. Problem solved. You can resell your disc. If you are okay with buying a copy of Second Sight that you can never resell because you could theoretically resell it if you had bought a physical copy instead, the same can apply here.
Physical media won't disappear until physical media actually disappears. We will always get GOTYEs for anything "worth playing". Why? Because so many people are terrified of the interweb that they want to repurchase things (or, like me, are really lazy and hate the install process :p).
