Hi there, Gogers. After Recently learning that the early access game Wrack has been finished and is being sold as a full release on Steam I contacted the main developer and asked if there was any possibility of a DRM free release on GOG. Well, the developer got back to me and told me that he already tired to get the game published on GOG but that the game was rejected because one of the reviewers at GOG didn't like the game that much. This whole situation reminded me of another game that I inquired about a good while ago called Retrovirus. A Descent clone that is actually quite good but was also rejected for some reason.

Check these games out

Wrack

Retrovirus

Okay now that is out of the way, I'd like to express my two cents here.

WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON AT GOG.

Whenever I ask GOG about rejected games they tell me that can't disclose such information.
I've sent some feedback to GOG support requesting some changes and I'd like to know your thoughts on it. I would like to see a system in place that deals with rejected games more hands on and involving the consumer. Obviously there still needs to be a high slandered of quality, I personally wouldn't want to see early access games on GOG nor do I think GOG should open the flood games like Steam. But what I would like to see is just a little input from the consumers on games that get rejected with maybe an appeal system in place as well.

Please bare in mind this is only my subjective opinion, but I'm deeply troubled by a lot of the events that have happened over the past few mouths. After losing Nordic and Frictional Games I was hopping that Wrack and Retrovirus would breath some new life into GOG's library and fill some of the void lost by so many good FPS such as Painkiller and Red Faction. Instead we get games like, Hatoful Boyfriend, Gone Home and Daikatana. At least Daikatana is a game though.

If you do like games such as Gone Home and Hatoful Boyfriend that's fine I have nothing against that. However I would like to ask this question to all those who read this post. What would you rather play: Hatoful Boyfriend and Gone Home, or Wrack and Retrovirus.

EDIT
I feel that games such as Wrack and Retrovirus which play homage to older games belong here more so then... other games.
I don't want to play Gone Home or some visual novel about pidgin shagging. I want to play good game, old fashion games. Good old games so to speak. Or am I in the wrong place.

Gone Home and Retrovirus. ;)
gone home an dhatoful boyfriend because i actually heard of them
never heard of the other two

and the first two games are something new and different

gone home is basically a house simulator playground who knows what you can do with that once its pinned down
I'd rather play Hatoful Boyfriend because at least I heard of it.

I would not. GOG has business model. It is working. Every week we get more releases. Do I sometimes wish GOG would put this or that game up for sale? Sure. But do want GOG to make me part of the decision process? Absolutely not. Why? Because I am not part of the discussions about such decisions; I don't know the whole story; and what do I know about running a digital game store?

The team is working. Let them work.
Pigeon lobby is pretty strong....particularly in older European cities, due to the prevalence of historical statues.
But Gone Home is the future of gaming. :P

Wow I must be like a million years old because in my day, games were about fun.

I just think that a little more consumer input could go a long way, even if it was nothing more then a voting poll.

Wrack looks fun. It's a shame that many good or interesting games are rejected here, but I understand that GOG.com doesn't want to become a new Desura, where everything is released no matter the quality of the games...

Those games would fit GOG really well I think, though what the reasons behind rejection are we will probably never know. I'm not sure if it was because some tester at GOG didn't like it, if it is maybe GOG should reconsider their reviewprocess. On the other hand the developers might have had too high demands trying to squeeze GOG because they are on Steam already.

Exactly, which makes me wander why walk around and house and pidgin shaggier is being sold here.

Wrack and Retrovirus are pretty good. In retrovirus you can upgrade and downgrade your abilities like in Trine. It's pretty like that.
