== BUG REPORTING ==

Please use: http://mantis.gog.com and include
1. steps to reproduce the bug (if possible)
2. screenshot or movie showing the bug (if possible)
3. Galaxy Client logs (see below)

Where can I find Galaxy logs on my computer?
On Windows 7 or later: C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\Galaxy\Logs
On Mac OS X: /Users/Shared/GOG.com/Galaxy/Logs

== FEATURE SUGGESTIONS ==

Please use: http://www.gog.com/wishlist/galaxy. For feature suggestions and votes on them please try do explain how Galaxy and its users will really benefit from it.

== IMPORT ALREADY INSTALLED GAMES TO GALAXY ==

1. For GOG games installed using installers from the last few months (so called Galaxy-compatible installers)
Click the Galaxy logo button on top of the sidebar and select "scan and import folders" - it will find all compatible games within that folder and add them to the Client.

2. For remaining GOG game INSTALLATIONS
Find the game in the Library (click on the image of the game), then click the More button and select "Manage Installation" -> "Import folder" and point the folder selector into the folder where that game is installed.

== KNOWN ISSUES ==
- throttling max download speed is not yet possible
- notifications related to incoming chat messages and friend requests does not always disappear instantly when consumed and may require reloading Store page
- games imported from existing installations will auto-update once, even if updating is disabled
- Moving Galaxy from /Applications on Mac OS X will stop the app from working
- Galaxy cannot be launched by other users on the same computer

For everyone who has a problem with missing api-ms-crt dlls in Client's versions post 1.1.5:
Please install one of those windows update: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2999226 https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3118401
You may need to update Windows to meet the requirements for these:
For Windows 8.1 and for Windows Server 2012: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2919355
For Windows 7 and for Windows Server 2008 R2: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/976932

You can also try reinstalling Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables 2015 (x86) if you meet above requirements.
Available here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=48145

If above instructions doesn't work for you, create a separate issue on mantis.gog.com and we'll try to help you individually.

Please note that this solution only helps with the missing api-ms-crt dlls.

Answering this question: Why 1.1 doesn't work after updating to 1.2?

This is happening probably due to incompatible database from version 1.2, please delete this folder:
%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\GOG.com\Galaxy\storage
usually
C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\storage\

Then you'll have to use scan&import (menu under the top Galaxy logo) function to see your games back in Galaxy Client.

BKGaming: Are achievement pictures downloaded every time you restart the client and try to view them? Seems like they are as it's kind of slow when I'm trying to look at them for Tropico 5, like there slowly downloading. This is the first game I'm really trying to get the achievements for.

If so can we please like cache these or something by the client so it only loads slowly on the first view...
We'll look into it, definitely they should be cached between restarts but I know that not everything is currently (game version for example).

ipickert55: This is real nitpicky, but the lack of animations for webpages in galaxy really annoys me, in particular the store page. In any normal web browser, is does a shifting animation to the next product and the next color background. I'm guessing this has something to do with GOG's web browser, will this ever be changed?
We've disabled the animations sometime between alpha and beta due to rendering helper process not properly sleeping when Client was minimised as well as gpu acceleration not handled properly on some computers, which generally resulted in cpu usage being not what we'd call optimal when Client was idle.

However, as of 1.1 we use a much newer renderer that improves in all these areas, so while we're still looking into performance and have quite a few improvement ideas, we'll be very likely bringing back the animations sooner than later.

BKGaming: If you go to the game screen (under PLAY), you should see the last couple you unlocked. Under that you should see show all which will show all of the achievements for said game.
avatar
aramazon: Clicking show all definitely only expands the list of achievements I've unlocked. Perhaps this is only the case with "This War of Mine"
Seems that in case of this game, developer set every single achievement as hidden (secret) so that their names and unlocking conditions aren't supposed to be known to the player.

We have an improvement planned to actually display such achievements but differently: as a placeholder "secret achievement" without name and unlocking conditions for every such achievement rather than not showing the achievement at all. This should help to clear the confusion a bit :)
avatar
BKGaming: You couldn't by chance give is a rough estimate though when the next large update might be coming can you, like the overlay or something? Can we expect something before the end of the year?
All I can say at this point is that the next Client update will focus on game compression and updating, as the team was hard at work on the backend side reworking Galaxy Content System that is the foundation for both. This should improve downloads for both installation and updating by quite a lot (and it's still not our final word on the subject).
Also this is very likely not the "large update" you might be thinking of, but very important one nevertheless. When is it coming and what is coming after... I'd prefer not to say (yet).
avatar
lefantome89: Another update but it's still 1.1.5.

It's like the third update in a week but it's the same version
Last updates released are bug fixes in our in-game SDK to improve multiplayer, and compatibility with recent releases.
avatar
BKGaming: Just bought and started playing Stronghold Crusader 2... and my play time is not updating in Galaxy. It stays at 0.
Game time tracking currently only works if you're online (game launched via Galaxy, and the client is in online mode when you quit the game). The total time spent in the game is saved and updated within a minute after you finish playing. In future updates we will add full offline support for game time tracking, as well as updates in real time.
avatar
BKGaming: ...
I've tested SC2 today multiple times and wasn't able to replicate the issue. We've also already logged hundreds of hours of play time for SC2, so the issue does not seem to be specific for the game. In general the game time tracking mechanism is not game specific. If you could send me your Galaxy logs than I will take a look, maybe the time tracking persistence operation failed or timed out on the network level. If so, we'll try to trace it on our backend.

Hi there,

I’m really sorry to hear you have troubles using our platform and understand your irritation, especially since the issues are connected to prices. I know it’s not a big consolation, but rest assured that the problem is not a widespread thing (to my knowledge we had few reports about it so far).

Unfortunately we didn’t have any luck with repro of the issues you are talking about, which makes it hard to debug, but nevertheless we will try to help you and solve it one way or another. We will need a bit more info from you though.

1. Please monitor contents of the gog_lc cookie every time you see the prices change. For you it should always be CA_USD_en.
2. Try adding different parameters to the url (like for example gog.com/?=1; gog.com/?=2) and see if each time you enter the page with new parameter you get the same price. Currently the correct price for Hearts of Stone i Canada is $7.99 before discount, and $7.19 after the discount.
3. Check the prices on the checkout screen. After you enter the checkout screen you should see the same prices as on the frontpage. Please select PayPal as you payment option, click on the „pay for your order now” and tell me what happened - if you were redirected to PayPal or the checkout screen refreshed and prices changed for you.
4. If you didn’t already try using incognito window in Chrome, private browsing in Firefox or equivalent of these in other browsers.
5. Tell me if the problem is connected to each and every game on GOG.com? Or to some specific titles? List every game you stumble upon having this issue.

Again sorry to hear about your issues, and let’s hope we can resolve them together. :)

Take care!

tomba4: Will the download speed mess ever get sorted out? I remember it's been like that from the beginning. I check every couple of months, but it's still basically broken :(

Download speed with GOG Galaxy: 0.4-0.6 MB/s
Downloading directly: 30-35 MB/s

Seriously, what the....
Few questions:
- Do you experience such slow download speeds for multiple games or do you test this issue on on specific product? Can you tell us a bit more here so we can try to replicate it?
- What is your OS, version and which Galaxy version are you running?
- Do you have some antivirus / firewall apps running on your OS? Can you whitelist Galaxy Client in them?
- How many download threads do you have set up in Settings for Galaxy? Does altering this number (increasing it to 10 / decreasing to 1) and restarting Galaxy make any difference for download speed?

Generally, we do monitor our cdn logs and I can assure you that for Galaxy downloads there is no global issue with Client download speeds, with the exception of maybe a few games with 10k+ files (Client operates on unpacked files) where indeed downloads can be slower - although not by a factor 50-100x. I personally have quite fast connection and I can easily achieve 25-30 MB/s in Galaxy for any given game as well...

If whitelisting and tinkering with download threads makes no difference for you, I suggest clearing up logs (see pinned post on top where to find logs), replicating the slow download issue on your end and then submitting newly created logs to our mantis bug-tracker (again, see top post for details).

Thanks for looking into my suggestions and sharing your observations. We will keep investigating it on our end, and share any finds as soon as possible.
avatar
skeletonbow: I presume your suggestion #2 above is to forcibly flush the cache due to the changing URL. The problem occurs totally randomly and when it does it survives page reloads including with the cache flushed for a number of reloads and then randomly switches back to CA_USD_en at some point.
Does this cookie switch happen just by sitting and refreshing frontpage? Or does it switch after you do checkout?

anothername: Manual Update broken?

After starting Galaxy a few minutes ago it updated itself (which is fine) and then auto-updated "Galactic Civilizations 3" which I previously set up to manual update and actually still is set to manual only. Other games did not auto updated (correctly so, I set all listed to manual only).
Can you do the following for us:

1. Set GalCiv III to "Manual Update" if isn't already.
2. When Galaxy updates itself again, please check if "Manual Update" is still checked and if it isn't, please post all of your Galaxy logs on our mantis.

Perhaps the logs will show what happens during the Galaxy update process and GalCiv III. I am not 100% sure on this but it's a better theory than nothing :)
avatar
BKGaming: Destro,

I think you said before that the client checks for game updates every 15 min, could you also force the client to check once right after startup? I got on Galaxy for a min to look at something, and almost forgot that Door Kickers updated today and the blue dot never fired until I clicked on the game because I assume 15 min hadn't past.

EDIT: Well damn, the game fails to update anyway. Galaxy says "GAME NOT SUPPORTED" when I try to update it. Sigh, and Galaxy was doing so well recently. But I'm getting errors much more often now.
Door Kickers has been fixed since your post :)
avatar
soultree: It is super slow on downloading!

I have a 50 meg DL/UL business circuit and this downloads like a snail.

Can anything be done to fix that?
Check this post please: http://www.gog.com/forum/general/gog_galaxy_beta_2/post3093

lefty: I know it might not be related to GOG Galaxy but I just wanted to ask you - why there are some games in my library which I don't have? I don't want them (let's call them "suggested games") to show in my library. Having The Witcher 1 and 2 doesn't mean I want to see The Witcher 3 in my library now (with "buy" button). When someone has many games in his/her library then finding exact game to download it or play it, etc. might be more difficult. Of course I don't have a big game library now but some have.
We do not show recommendations on Account page (or generally games you don't have). The only situation where you could see The Witcher 3 there with a buy button would be that you own one of game DLCs but not the game itself. For The Witcher 3 this is possible to achieve that :). I cannot imagine any other game with such effect though and as I understand you mention multiple games...

Could you post a screenshot maybe of some other game appearing in such way? Or if you prefer please do contact our support directly.

kotokimura: Since GOG Galaxy moved from alpha to beta, I have had the same issues no matter how many updates GOG has done. This issue started just after Galaxy beta started. I was able to run Galaxy alpha without many issues.

The main issue is that;

(1) When I first installed Galaxy, it seemed to work well.
(2) However, once I logout from Galaxy and restarted again, none of my games was recognized by Galaxy at all.
(3) Scan and import button did not do anything. First of all, I cannot reach to 'This Computer' at all. Therefore I cannot direct Galaxy to my drive folders which contain my games. Even though I typed in the folder names, it did not recognize any games.
(4) Then I tried to get into each game menu from the Library. But it did not work either because I just couldn't go into each game menu. Double-clicking the game icons in the library just did not work at all.
(5) The only way for Galaxy to recognize games is to uninstall Galaxy and reinstall it again and again each time I logout Galaxy.
(6) The odd thing is that I cannot start Galaxy with Administrator's rights. And I cannot exclude Galaxy from DEP.
(7) My computer is running on W8.1 with Kaspersky. Turning off Kaspersky did not change anything. In the same computer I have three other booting drives with XP, W7, and Linux. Galaxy works normally with XP and W7. So this is an isolated issue with my W8.1 drive.

I already contacted GOG many times. So far I haven't gotten back any solutions from them. If there are any ideas about my issues from the community, please let me know. Thank you.
Hey, we will try to reproduce the errors you are getting. How did you try to contact us? Through support?
