== BUG REPORTING ==

Please use: http://mantis.gog.com and include
1. steps to reproduce the bug (if possible)
2. screenshot or movie showing the bug (if possible)
3. Galaxy Client logs (see below)

Where can I find Galaxy logs on my computer?
On Windows 7 or later: C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\Galaxy\Logs
On Mac OS X: /Users/Shared/GOG.com/Galaxy/Logs

== FEATURE SUGGESTIONS ==

Please use: http://www.gog.com/wishlist/galaxy. For feature suggestions and votes on them please try do explain how Galaxy and its users will really benefit from it.

== IMPORT ALREADY INSTALLED GAMES TO GALAXY ==

1. For GOG games installed using installers from the last few months (so called Galaxy-compatible installers)
Click the Galaxy logo button on top of the sidebar and select "scan and import folders" - it will find all compatible games within that folder and add them to the Client.

2. For remaining GOG game INSTALLATIONS
Find the game in the Library (click on the image of the game), then click the More button and select "Manage Installation" -> "Import folder" and point the folder selector into the folder where that game is installed.

== KNOWN ISSUES ==
- throttling max download speed is not yet possible
- notifications related to incoming chat messages and friend requests does not always disappear instantly when consumed and may require reloading Store page
- games imported from existing installations will auto-update once, even if updating is disabled
- Moving Galaxy from /Applications on Mac OS X will stop the app from working
- Galaxy cannot be launched by other users on the same computer

For everyone who has a problem with missing api-ms-crt dlls in Client's versions post 1.1.5:
Please install one of those windows update: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2999226 https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3118401
You may need to update Windows to meet the requirements for these:
For Windows 8.1 and for Windows Server 2012: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2919355
For Windows 7 and for Windows Server 2008 R2: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/976932

You can also try reinstalling Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables 2015 (x86) if you meet above requirements.
Available here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=48145

If above instructions doesn't work for you, create a separate issue on mantis.gog.com and we'll try to help you individually.

Please note that this solution only helps with the missing api-ms-crt dlls.

========================================================================================

Answering this question: Why 1.1 doesn't work after updating to 1.2?

This is happening probably due to incompatible database from version 1.2, please delete this folder:
%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\GOG.com\Galaxy\storage
usually
C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\storage\

Then you'll have to use scan&import (menu under the top Galaxy logo) function to see your games back in Galaxy Client.

WhiskeredWolf: I uninstalled GOG Galaxy from my C drive to see how it runs on my secondary D drive
From the top post:

== KNOWN ISSUES ==

- reinstalling Galaxy (Windows) to a different folder than the initial install will cause errors
avatar
Lone3wolf: OK, I installed around 30 games in the Alpha version.
Updated to the Beta version this afternoon, and the list of (Alpha version) installed is all-but empty.
Imported the installed-to locations via the library-page -> More -> Manage -> Import Folder -> Select Folder
Please post an issue on Mantis if the client did remove your games after updating.
avatar
donpedrox: So importing files into the Galaxy Client removes mods. it is stated as such but, I was wondering is there no way to put our games into the client without removing mods or otherwise redownloading the files already present on the computer?
The issue is that when you import a game from existing folder, a sync is triggered that automatically updates the game. If the mod works in a way that modifies existing game files, then these files will be reverted by the sync.

What should work I believe is importing the game as you did, and after the sync is complete to disable auto-updating for that specific game and then finally applying the mod.
avatar
Doodleroo: At least the OS X version of this application needs to go back to the drawing board.

Can only be run from top level Applications folder? That's a show-stopper for me right there.
First of all we're talking about Beta, right? Not every feature is working or is implemented right now. If that's a stopper for you, sorry to hear that, you can wait until we release the final, public build which should have this fixed.

avatar
Doodleroo: Tries to connect to Google-Analytics upon launch. Are you kidding me?
Client doesn't use Google Analytics anywhere, however it allows you to browse GOG.com website which indeed uses GA.

avatar
Doodleroo: The 'import folder' feature does not seem to work at all. If I select the folder above the game, the app does nothing at all. If I select the game, the app downloads the game again and puts the second copy inside the application bundle...
This feature is for importing existing games (not installing new ones) into the client which were not compatible with GOG Galaxy yet. Therefore you can sync a game to an existing bundle app folder (.app extension). Probably the message should be more clear about it.

avatar
Doodleroo: Tried to reinstall Blackguards - resulted in a non-executable without icon...
Whether or not DLC is installed is totally intransparent and not controllable...
The game is installed with all available DLCs at start, you can uninstall them from the game view.
As for the icon it may have been cached incorrectly by the OS, it should get back to normal in time, the game should be fine nevertheless. If it doesn't run, please let us know on Mantis.

avatar
Doodleroo: I own Ultima VII, does not appear in my library...
Ultima VII is not available on OS X yet through GOG Galaxy.

avatar
Doodleroo: Randomly crashes upon exit...
We'd be grateful for a ticket on Mantis regarding the crashes with logs and crash dumps. Which will help us find the cause of the problem.

FiatLux: This page : http://www.gog.com/galaxy
clearly says :
" Backup copy download
Want to backup your purchases? We get it. For all games, you can download a DRM-free backup installer that you can save to an external disk, drive or cloud. "
and feature is not marked with a (soon) as other still missing features is .

So my question is , where is the * download the "backup copy" button when in the games library in the Galaxy client ?
Choose any game from your sidebar or go to you Library, click on any games image to go to it's page. Then from the "More" dropdown choose "Download extras". You can download offline installers and all the extras for each game.

Swissendo: I seem to have quite a major problem that I'm unable to fix. After successfully installing the Alpha of the client and giving it a whirl for a few minutes, I've decided to change its install location and (therefore) uninstalled it. After I've reinstalled it to a new location, the client didn't boot. Nothing happend, no errors or anything else were shown, the process seemed to have been terminated. Since then, I'm unable to launch the client at all, even after several reinstalls to old and new locations, a ton of reboots and manually running GalaxyUpdater.exe or the GalaxyClient.exe from the client folders. Even the new Beta-Installer (1.0.0.871) didn't change a thing. The error code is always the same: Application initializer not allowing to continue execution. Return code: -24 (Could not install service.). I'm not shure if this is the right place to ask, but any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Log: pastebin.com/FjYAncy0
Please post this to mantis.gog.com, thanks!

Shmacky-McNuts: Any blue response regarding Aliens vs Predator NOT having the client in the installer?

Anyone without galaxy, try it yet to confirm whether or not it still auto installs?

I've had a few other people make mention but not actually confirm with a clean install and no galaxy.
Bundled with the AvP 2000 is not the GOG Galaxy, just a launcher app for the game so the multiplayer portion can work in-game. We'll be removing the launcher from those installers soon as you'll be able to use GOG Galaxy for that.
avatar
ewhac: Okay, guys? You need to understand something very clearly: Doing shit behind by back is ABSOLUTELY IMPERMISSIBLE.
avatar
jsjrodman: Also it seems currently auto-update is a per-game setting. That might be okay, but there should be a GLOBAL auto-update setting and it should be easy to find before galaxy auto-updates anything.
There will be a global setting foe this.

avatar
EckoShy: And I would file a bug report, but I'm not clear on the part about about including a Galaxy client log. I found the location where the logs are, but there are multiple logs and I don't know which ones would have the useful information needed for the report.
Feel free to include entire log folder aipped and just provide an explanation of what happened and steps to reproduce. If you want to help even further, you can always close Galaxy, remove all the logs and then relaunch the Client reproducing only steps required for the bug to occur - this will result in much cleaner logs addressing only specific issue being reported.
avatar
KJTB8: Posting here for advice whether to post a bug report. 've searched and cannot find mention of this anywhere else.

I've only just d/led Galaxy, and wanted to put it through paces I'd commonly use it for. I downloaded Call To power 2 through Galaxy, and launched it. I had the common issue of the movies not playing. I quit out, changed the application file to XP compatible, and launched it from the file directory. At this point, the movies run properly.

I exited out, and went back to Galaxy to launch the game. From here, the videoes no longer run in game. I quit out, and relaunched from the directory, and the movies work again. I checked Galaxy again by launching the game, and the movies in there do not run.

It looks like that when you need to run a game in compatibility mode, Galaxy doesn't recognise any changes made.

I am running 64bit WIn 7

Any advice would be most welcome
If you haven't already reported it to mantis then please follow these steps
== BUG REPORTING ==

Please use: http://mantis.gog.com and include
1. steps to reproduce the bug (if possible)
2. screenshot or movie showing the bug (if possible)
3. Galaxy Client logs (see below)

Where can I find Galaxy logs on my computer?
On Windows Vista or later: C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\Galaxy\Logs
On Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\GOG.com\Galaxy\Logs
On Mac OS X: /Users/Shared/GOG.com/Galaxy/Logs

mcgeehe: I wanted to add to my last post about Galaxy deleting my games...

It also deleted my save games... not cool, not cool at all. I went to play some KOTOR and my saves were gone, didn't even get a chance to back them up. No warning, nothing.
When uninstalling game you should have an option to select whether saves will be left intact or should be removed. Did you report the issue to bug tracker? See sticky post on top.

mcgeehe: Please fix Galaxy so it stops deleting my game installs after an update. Very, very annoying. Especially on the larger games...

This is the 2nd time my library has been wiped out after an update. Please fix!

Edit: I won't be a very happy camper if I end up having to re-download Witcher 3 multiple times.
Please post an issue on Mantis about this, with information where is client located and where do you install your games.
avatar
ne_zavarj: Can't read the forum via the Galaxy client . ( too small font size )
Do you increase font size when browsing forums on the website? If not, do you have DPI scaling enabled on Windows?
avatar
Destro: Do you increase font size when browsing forums on the website? If not, do you have DPI scaling enabled on Windows?
avatar
ne_zavarj: Yes .
I'm not sure to which of these two questions it's the answer to :) however
1. indeed there is no way to overwrite the font size as of today
2. as per sticky post on top

- DPI scaling beyond 100% is not respected on Windows (Client UI will be very small or 4k screens)

FFrules3: Startopia does not launch using Galaxy. Nothing happens, no executable launches on Windows 8.1, even after checking/repair files.

Thanks for Galaxy, though, I like it very much. ;)
Please file a bug report on Mantis :)
avatar
mcgeehe: No, the issue is that Galaxy uninstalled my games by itself. It's done this twice now after an update to the client and this time I lost my saves to certain games.
This is a very weird situation.... We'll look into the logs as soon as you post them, but just to be sure - since I cannot imagine any other reason why this could happen on update... did you by any chance install your games into the same folder as the Galaxy Client is installed?
avatar

avatar
mcgeehe: I made a subfolder named 'Games' inside the 'GalaxyClient' folder. Could that be the reason? Should I make a new folder outside the 'GalaxyClient' folder?
Yes, that is most likely the reason :). You see, what happened was that once there was an update to the Client, its Updater app was cleaning existing installation folder of the Client before installing a new one in the same place. Since you installed your games within a folder of Client installation, game files were accidentally wiped with each such update cleanup...

For now I'd strongly suggest installing games outside of the folder where Galaxy is installed and in the future we will look into making the update cleanup mechanism a bit less zealous :).
