Just wanted to drop in and give you some update about the forum & chat notifications. Yes, we're aware they are missing in the web version. It's because we decided to work on those from the grounds up. For the time being they are working in Galaxy only, but we'll bring it back to the web eventually. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Eventually??? Maybe it's time to pick up the torches and pitchforks...

He didn't say soon™, so there's still hope.
Crap, didn't notice the notifications where missing until I saw this thread.
I mean, come on, this is a major flaw and should be fixed as soon as possible.

No idea how many updates I've missed so far. :/

Edit: Regarding Grargars link: 'Galaxy exclusive for the time being', 'it'll come eventually', huh?

You'll be missed notification system. Guess I'll rely on a script for now, as we probably won't see a new notification system for the next couple months.

But doesn't 'eventually' sound worse?

After Crawl's release, I'm not so sure.

"eventually" is completely indeterminate. it's like something parents tell nagging kids when they want to shut them up but dont want to say 'no.' could be tomorrow, could be next year, could be in 17 months. i know the update notifications were mostly broken, but to scrap it entirely and replace it with nothing, even temporarily is pretty awful. so gog, there is currently no official (yes, i follow the update thread diligently) way to know if your games have been updated UNLESS you use galaxy, in which case it's entirely automated, is that about right?

Soon is also a phrase for something that's supposed to happen in the near future, but I think that 3 years might be stretching it a tad.

Not really, you can still click on your account and see the updated games there. Ok, it's less convenient but presumably if you are that bothered about keeping your installers up to date or are waiting for a specific patch or update it's not that much extra effort (particularly as the updates weren't actually reliable in the first place).

The loss of chat notifications is far more annoying, as there is no way to know when someone might decide to message you out of the blue.

As far as I'm aware. I believe it was stated elsewhere that they were working. I don't get many updates so I don't think I've seen one since the new bar came in but that's not unusual for me anyway.

that's my experience as well. no updates since the new nav system was put into place, but i heard that too, and the update system was/is kinda flaky anyway soooo... who the heck knows.
I didn't want to post just to say the same thing as everyone else.
I got an update notification in my library yesterday so that is apparently still alive. Don't chat here much but I think that loss is both silly and bad.
Under contruction? I see, good thing as it was not working too well. Please try to make it before [s]Crimbo[/s] midsummer.

This is good news. I'm glad we finally got an official response from Gog and that they're working on bringing it back. :)

The votes stand at 116. Keep the votes rolling in people! Even though Gog says they're working on it, we don't want to let up too much pressure on them. They have to know that this is something we really want back. ;)
