@Fascists generally, do you find this role more fun than playing Liberal? I'd imagine it would be.

@ZFR that blunder with Lift was a game changer. If you got away with rejecting the chancellorship it maybe helps you.

But I suppose you could have let it go 4-0 allowing for you to be confirmed. OR you could have taken one for the team if given a F card pass it and claim Kusu passed you FF.

The cards and board were set up against you anyway. I'm not sure you can win with 4 straight Liberal Presidents from the off. You'd have to be ultra aggressive in becoming Chancellors and blaming liberals

I take it you would have passed FF and claimed you passed FL if in government with me? Then you could have investigated and picked off a Lib. Who would you have investigated?

@Dedo I think you should of said you passed me FL and said Brasas was Fascist because you were already exposed at this point. Then if it went Adalia-Greek, Adalia could have then done the same and investigate Greek or Lift or RWarehall or Scene saying whoever was Fascist. Suddenly Scene/Greek/Brasas are probably out of contention for government and it would be 3-2. Blontunga then maybe gets a shot of a Presidency with Lift then and he can either confirm himself or get

Oh, and once again - kudos to ashwald for the awesome entrance. I don't think I'm capable to join this late and get in that quickly with so much valuable contribution. Bad legacy was probably the only thing that kept her chained down.
In my opinion neither ZFR nor adalia would have gotten elected at that point without something dramatically changing their public appearance prior. I may have been wrong but it was how I saw things, so I chose this route.

And I can finally say this: (I've been itching to all game long).

Dude, it saddens me a really really really lot that you'd think me such a bad mafia player who'd crack so easily under pressure.

After refusing chancellorship and realizing I was in a place with least cred and unlikely to be elected, I thought my best bet would be to gradually pretend to lose and then finally do a tantrum and expose myself and pull down some liberals with me. So the gradual pretending to be getting angrier and losing my cool. The worsening punctuation and grammar; the getting angry at liberal-cristi for being absent, the lashing out at scene. So when you gave me the opportunity (incidentally; I did not think you were purposely baiting me and I really didn't get the movie reference), I "took" it and pretended to flip. Bringing down with me adalia and RW. They were the closest to dedo, whom I wanted to get the presidency. And greek because he was the most credible and the biggest competitor to also-credible Hitler Lift. Of course the names weren't random, but not for the reason you thought. My plan was to get dedo president, get to 3F through bad draws and/or blotunga and then hopefully the water would be muddied so much around greek that Lift would be the logical pick.
It was amusing to how you missed some subtle signs that I deliberately put to show I'm close to having a meltdown and at the same time picked others that were honest mistakes. At times I thought I was laying it too thick. And you also picked out some genuine slips, like me asking greek to confirm me. Excellent job there.

But man, give me some credit. Not once did you even say "ZFR is smart. He could only be pretending this whole time". You were convinced I cracked the whole time. Come on!

And there as I was laughing and congratulating myself that Brasas fell for my "I'm so angry I went 'fuck this'" plan, I got a message from zeo and realized I actually did give away one of my fellow fascists. My whole plan was messed up.

At this point the my only choice was to muddy the waters as much as I could. And that was probably the only thing I did well in the game. Suspicion was on everyone at that stage in the game, including liberals RW, greek, scene and kusu.

Heh, lack of communication killed us then.

I was under the impression that *I* should be the one who makes himself look bad, while you're firmly rooted in the "good" camp.

It would've been hard at the beginning to do more from my side as I didn't wanted to attract much attention. Unfortunately I was very far away from the president spots and making noise probably wouldn't have helped my case much (see greek being prime Hitler suspect near the end).

Hooray! Somebody did use it!

(Also, I don't use random.org professionally. I do work with data analysis and AI but never really need random.org for work. And was lying when I said there was a thread when I said I did.)
Yup. Ironically the way the cards were, the only time a fascist were picked by a liberal president (kusu picking me) was when there were 2Ls. So even if I accepted I wouldn't have been confirmed.

That was the plan. Pick a conflict with you. (A big mistake I made is to pick you so suddenly. Maybe if I pretended and pondered, and then picked you as the most confirmed person, my government would have passed.)

Not sure whom I'd have investigated. I was thinking of Brasas and actually saying he's liberal for some WIFOM.

By the way, when I wrote this I was referring to the actual liberals who were questioning me at the time, not my fellow fascists (that would have helped, of course). I can't remember who pushed me first there but I do remember Lift joining in and openly asking the question on why I insist on such things if I'm liberal. He let me off the hook way too easily which was irritating :)

There is some luck in this game, but there is a good negative-feedback loop to balance things too.

Twice we were 40% from getting the upper hand. First time when Brasas-greek had 40% chance of getting FFF after which me, adalia and RW could have had a field day. The other time was at the end when Lift and Brasas had a 42% chance because:

Exactly! If at anytime Blotunga was close to being picked this was it, since you and Lift were termlocked.

Lift said he'd be nominating greek as president.

My plan was that if greek picked dedo as Chancellor, we'd be good with a conflict that throws bad light at dedo's buddy Brasas. If greek chose scene, I'd have created as much stink as possible around scene, exposing myself but bringing him down too e.g. by giving the impression that he could be Hitler and I'm fed up with him not noticing I'm on his team. With that government failing, my failing next, dedo would have and extremely plausible reason for picking blotunga. He can't pick scene; can't risk it and pick greek either; can't pick anyone from our camp, which leaves only the 2 lurkers: kusu and blotunga. And Brasas was already suspicious of kusu. Hey, he might have actually suggested blotunga himself.
Or even greek picking him in the first place for same reasons.

As I said played Resistance a lot. The one problem with such games is that after some time, you can't help but meta-bring real life into it (making decisions based on what you know about the person in real life). And vice versa: you bring the game to real life. I've seen situations like "He's so earnest saying he didn't do X. But I've seen how convincingly he can lie in Resistance/poker/(insert game here..)" (and personally I really am an honest person and wouldn't like a reputation that I can lie well) and seen my share of genuinely hurt feelings after the game was over. It was partly for this reason that I was reluctant for some time to play mafia here.
So with that in mind, and seeing how the game got intense at times, I hope there is no ill-will between anyone.

And finally finally finally:
I got a spare key for Heroes of Might and Magic 3 that I wanted to give out as a prize after this game's over. So if any of the participants, or zeo, or Bookwyrm want it, it's theirs. And if more than one does, I'll use random.org (really I will ;)).

I've been too busy to follow in depth, but I will say this game feels much, much harder to casually observe since you never actually "know" anything at any point in the game, not even a single player's alignment or having seen an actual draw. Everything said is subject to being untrue, and that makes it a bit...uninteresting...at least to me, as the game lingered towards a conclusion.

Well... not easily. And it's not false humility because I did say I didn't think my pressure was that bad. I just assumed there was something about personal life or the scum game state really behind your stress :) That's where the suspicion that Kusu might be Hitler grew.

I would never have thought it was an actual fully planned prog because RW and Adalia aligned so much with you afterwards - RW in particular. IT was too neat. In a way the "dice" really were prescient, considering RW was not scum, and Adalia was but you didn't know it then. :D


@Dedo, Zeo says there was no 3F draw but he might have meant for L L teams - but you will know, so did you bury an L? That's an even luckier draw for me with Greek if so...

I took it for granted that he did (hence the 40% chance on you and greek govmnt drawing FFF)...
