PirateNeilsouth: hah yeh, still don't see the point of those movies tbh. I'm a gamer damn it! :D

Fever_Discordia: Well, 99% of them are about games and gaming, therefore you're the target audience therefore...
Well you see where I'm going with this!
Yah, but I'm here for games, not stuff about games. For the same reason I go to restaurants to buy well-prepared food, not recipes. :)

Amiga? Now that's a surprise. A positive one this time!

Yeah, but if my favorite restaurant suddenly added a new dish to that menu that I hated (Pasta Verde, say, or Pizza with pineapple on it - Blegh!) I would just order my favorite meal and enjoy it, I wouldn't sit there bitching and moaning to everyone who would listen that I was upset that they'd added something I didn't like!
(MY I'm in a combative mood lately! *phew*)

I wouldn't either. But if the restaurant started a whole second line of business in selling recipes, and their food quality suffered because of it, I would be upset and disappointed in them.

Not saying it's happened yet. Just questioning the move when so many other options seem more logical.

tfishell: Still doesn't make up for the loss of Nordic, but really great news. It makes me wonder how the Amiga versions will be emulated.

Also, it's back!

Fever_Discordia: Maybe they won't be - maybe they'll just include the Amiga disk images with the DOS versions as bonus content and it's up to you what you do with them - potential way around the legalities of BIOS images and the Amiga versions of that era being better than the DOS ones, for the enthusiasts at least
That doesn't strike me as the "GOG way", though. They didn't include the Windows versions of Dungeon Keeper or SimCity 2000 even though many people appeared to want them; plus, iirc, TET said somewhere they want games to work "straight out of the box", which is *why* the Windows versions didn't appear. So I have a hard time believing they'd just throw the Amiga versions in there without an easy way to get them working.

DukeNukemForever: Maybe GOG finally made a deal with Cloanto, the developers behind Amiga Forever and C64 Forever. Cloanto has the right to sell and use Kickstarter for Amiga Forever. From following thread Cloanto was interested to deal up with GOG:

Crosmando: I hope they use WinUAE with WHDLoad (http://whdload.de/).
Whatever gets the games running as easily as DOSBox.

I'm sure their supplier just had a load of recipes lying around that they were selling really cheap so they thought "Hey, why not?"

amok: This, frankly, is the reason why gOg should exist, nothing else.

We've just been informed by Cinemaware that they have announced a digital distribution agreement with GOG.com, the leading source of DRM-free games. Through this agreement GOG.com will be providing a selection of incredible classics that many of us grew up with; one such game being Defender of the Crown. What's more Cinemaware has mentioned that not only will the DOS version be sold, but also the very first Amiga games will also be sold with the DOS versions through GOG.

If this is true, and if it means the start of legal Amiga games on GOG, then this is the best news to come out of GOG in years. I know lots of people are excited for Galaxy, but to me, this is much bigger.
i have no idea what these games are
or who cinemaware was or is
nor have i ever touched an amiga

but this is regardless great news

here is hoping for an influx of amiga titles

I heard the Amiga was a good system, but never used it myself. I have to wonder what their game strategy is going to be. 10-20 games at a time with a similar theme? A dollar per individual game?

Now i'm curious about the interface... I recall trying to play some of the more interesting dungeon crawling games on Atari a while back that used 4 floppy disks; It got annoying fast when you got into a fight and had to turn the disk over before the fight would begin so it could load the data... If the games required multiple disks i wonder if they are going to do any hacking so it strings the game into a single disk virtually or something so that type of thing goes away...

I'm sure there's quite a few games i'm willing to buy, although i probably already have them on a backup disc somewhere with a huge collection of emulation stuff... Now i'm almost getting excited.
This is potentially great.
I have been hoping for legal Amiga games for a long time, so if they manage to do that, I'm one happy gamer.

But as for Cinemaware...
I still haven't received any word from the emulated Amiga version of Wings which was Wings remake backers were to receive. I think they should sort that out first, as without their backers, they wouldn't have much of anything going on at the moment. Of course, if they actually kill two birds... err... shoot down two planes with one shot and send GOG codes to backers, that would be perfect.
