supplementscene: @Lift but you only have Greek you can trust to work with and he'll be barred from your government. Tactically another confirmed liberal alongside the 2 most confirmed is surely better. After this turn there will be no investigation powers.
That is true, but an investigation always goes both ways, at least a bit. The problem is, that you never can trust a read completely. RW raised quite a lot of dust, but he's right in one respect: it would be a possible (even if very risky) play for the fascists to establish a Hitler-Greek as perfect Chancellor candidate for the rest of the game. So Greek confirming you still leaves the slight possibility that you both are fascist - or, if you are fascist and he is liberal, there will be disagreement between you after the read. It is quite possible that you wanted to be investigated to raise doubts about Greek, pretending to be totally surprised that he reads you as fascist and therefore must be fascist himself.

Or in short: I would like to be investigated, because I am the only player whose alignment I know without any doubt. That makes it easier to evaluate what the reported read tells me about Greek. I am totally aware that you have to have the same reservations about me and that, for you, it would be preferrable to be investigated yourself. But that is true for every player and in the end it will be Greeks call.

You are very very correct in saying this but Lift isn't confirmed yet, he could be a well played fascist - Hitler and we must confirm him for everyone and the only way to do it is with an investigation by me, as I believe liberals will accept the result I will announce. And as I said in the previous post, if Lift is liberal, brasas just can't be a chaotic fascist risking everything in one draw with a big disadvantage for the rest of the game , he would have passed me FF.

You're correct regarding the reads

The potential drawback of this is if Lift and Greek are Hitler and Fascist in turn, in which case Liberals probably already have lost.

We are blind regarding Lift's Presidency because of the lack of knowledge of candidates.

@Greek I take it Brasas is your preferred chancellor candidate for Lift? Then Brasas for President if that fails?

It makes sense if you aren't both Scum
Can we take one step at a time? I'm too lazy to actually put much thought three steps ahead when that's like 9 different permutations when soon we will maybe go 5-1 for the win with almost 50% chance...

If the policy is F then we can talk more about the investigation, it's good that everyone thinks about it already ofc, just I don't see much upside in discussing now.

Right. I agree. So vote, all of you who haven't done so yet.

Here here!

Thinking ahead is all well and good, but the game may well be over after this government so it's a bit pointless to expend too much effort on it yet.

Agreed. Let's stick to the plan and cross any bridges ones and if we get there. Speaking of which, I just realized I never put my vote.
For the record I voted this morning

The investigation we're likely to undertake next go involves thinking 3 steps ahead though. The decision is based on that.

Just how many scum are there?
So, Kusu's vote is still missing, right? Too bad. I had hoped to finish this before the weekend. Especially since tomorrow and on Sunday I am hiking with friends and without internet. So I can't check in until Sunday evening. Sorry!

@mods: I'll be afk until Sunday evening.
The votes are in! The results are as follows.

1. The Greek (greeklover) - YES
2. Boss Kusu (kusumahendra) - YES
3. Mr. Scene (supplementscene) - YES
4. Basil the Lifter (Lifthrasil) - YES
5. Bishop Bling (ZFR) - YES
6. Captain Dedo (dedoporno) - YES
7. General Warehall (RWarehall) - YES
8. Adalia the Bookkeeper (adaliabooks) - YES
9. Big Brass (Brasas) - YES
10. Chief Blotunga (blotunga) - YES

The government is approved!
The president and chancellor (greeklover and Lifthrasil) are now bound to silence until a policy is passed.

Which is why I think it's better to see if we win first, and if we don't and get the investigation will there be a dispute or not.

Those are two steps that really influence what's coming after, and I don't see much point speculating on what is almost effectively a coin toss.

And then we can all share our thoughts, prepared or not, on who to investigate, based on clearing the potential dispute, or clearing the most players, or confirming next government, or whatever else.

Note the word 'if'. But if you and RWarehall and Adalia it leaves 1 other and there's a possibility one of you is a Lib and has merely been taken in by RWarehall, which would leave a further 2.
The Greek and Basil stand up, and the former begins speaking.
"Me and the eminent Lifter have found ourselves in agreement that this artifact is too dangerous to let anyone have access to. We, as a council, need to take more control of-"
His speech is cut short by the sounds of the Puzzlemaster bumping his head against the bottom of the table, searching underneath it for his missing bagel. The Greek nods to Basil, who, with one great heave, lifts the entire table into the air and holds it aloft.
"Oh, hey there," says the scrounging Puzzlemaster between munches. "What's goin' on? Is there a policy be- ...er....VHAT IS ZE MEANING OF ZIS INTERRUPTION?!"

"The government has passed a fascist policy," explains Basil.

"And I think I should do a little investigating," chimes in the Greek.
"Jawohl! Do as you must!"

A fascist policy has been passed.
The current president (greeklover) must investigate the alignment of another player who is not Brasas.

Greek and lift, please tell us what the cards are.

Also Greek, who do you think should be investigated?
